hi guys
Is there any benefit in going from a jbl 4329p to an ls60
Is it a side move at best or anything worth my while , been thinking of taking the 4329 to a home abroad so time to fill her shoes
Many thanks
Ps: worse case get another 4329

Hi @meracus!

You can compare the two speakers here:

The KEF has deeper bass extension, smoother early reflections, and lower multitone distortion in the ear gain region.

Additionally, it offers phase correction, tone controls, and SBIR compensation via KEF's App.

I'd consider it an upgrade.

Do yourself a favor and listen to the LS60 before you buy it. I know both, both are great but different.

I did … in very shoulder shrugging attitude so difficult to gauge really , not so easy around where I am

I wouldn't go for the LS60 if only for connectivity issues and repairability alone. IMHO, companies that choose not to employ the less minimal yet more robust, future proof hub method in active speaker design, are doing disservice to their customers. True, you have another small box hidden somewhere, but I think it's much smarter to separate amplification+drivers from processing and streaming.

I’m not too concerned about the longevity or redundancy … unless the 60 is well known for its unreliability … I don’t see it being reported to be the case

Some may consider the LS60 an upgrade, some may not.

Everything staticV3 said, plus the following:

The 4329p has wider dispersion, smoother horizontal directivity (see its horizontal contourt plot), the controled directivity extends at least an octave lower (getting near the performance of some cardioid designs), it's dip at 900Hz should be addressable with PEQ, and it holds up its bass output better at higher SPL levels (the LS60 protection kicks in faster and rolls off the bass above 80dB SPL).

The LS60 has better verttical directivity due to its concentric driver.

I don't understand this point since the other speaker he's considering, JBL 4329P has the same built-in design.

I’m not considering … I already have one and I enjoy very much . Just wanted to know if there’s a gain at all
I have a nice living room in Spain and I thought why not … let’s do an active
I already have an ls50 on devialet here
You know … just to perpetuate the disease

As an owner of LS60s I am quite pleased. Having previously owned 3 pretty good systems over many years, I bought the LS60s through Amazon 11 months ago based on a detailed review of the speakers on Stereophile Magazine, and I have been delighted. I chose Amazon due to their 30 day money-back guarantee. The LS60s do not please me alone, they also impress discriminating members of two different listening groups who meet among member's homes monthly for two-hour listening sessions. I started with the LS60s and liked them and eventually decided I wanted just a touch more bass, so I added a single KEF subwoofer. Did I need the sub? Not really, but I do think it added nicely.

Better sound.
The LS60s are phenomenal. Period.
I’ve had mine for about 3 years. They’re BLUE! My wife loves them!

Accurate, very detailed, very open soundstage, excellent bass extension and detail.
I continually hear musical details in familiar recordings that I never heard before.
The fact that they’re an entire hi-fi system, doubling as an A/V system in two sleek, handsome and understated towers only adds to them.
They’re just a pleasure to listen to!

I’ve owned quite a lot of hi-fi equipment over time, but these definitely stand out.
I use them for streaming, connected to a 4K TV via HDMI eARC, Apple TV 4K and a NAIM CD3.5 w/ FlatCap 2 power supply.

Get them!

Only drawback is it can't play very loud, a speaker with such flat FR and DSP can adapt to pretty much every room (as long as not too big) and personal preference

The LS60 has digital and analog in and hdmi , you don't have to suffer their app other than for setup :) . You can use external streamers no problem . I do that all the time

There is a rationale for wanting to avoid products dependent on the Apple eco system or Android for setup. There is a crude web-UI the folks at KEF could develop further.

I use mine with dual subs's to avoid the limiters and get better room acoustics . I still don't play super loud but the system is more input agnostic this way .

Also look at ASCILAB speakers for competing active models ?

Both are great sound wide. Ls60 has more connections (features also, can be seen as a con by some, e.g. more things to break). More readily available and cheaper, even more so with discounts from time to time. Longer warranty ( at least 3y if you register with Kef)
It is also taller yet thinner so easier placement
Yeah i am obviously biased toward it. My dream speakers

I'm trying to make the exact same decision as OP in this thread - 4329p vs LS60 for my ~15x15x15ft living room. I already have a RSL 10s subwoofer with LS50w in that space, so I can reuse the sub if needed but not sure if I will need to? Also not sure how I feel about the fixed 80Hz crossover of the JBL. I listen to mostly electronic music (house/techno/trance) and some easy listening vocal music at moderate volume (80db) so trying to prioritize bass response mostly. Also I'll need a stand for the 4329p, I don't like the look and price of the JBL stand, but not sure how the performance will be on another or DIY stand without the tilt.

I was able to find only one video directly comparing them, it's not at all scientific and is also in Vietnamese, but it gives you an idea how they appear relative to each other. The LS60 does look more elegant and has higher WAF.

I've never been a JBL fan. To me, they're sort of blunt instruments.
Those 4329ps are butt ugly, besides AND they need stands! I'm sure you could find better and better looking stands.

A bought a pair of JBLs at one time, thinking they'd be a dramatic upgrade.
Returned them a few days later, luckily the dealer still had my old trade-in speakers.

Since there are no real direct comparisons, I'd compare reviews of the JBLs with reviews of the LS60s.
Just looking at them, they're clearly not in the same class.

The LS60s are pretty amazing. Accuracy, detail, soundstage and overall impact. AND they look cool. Mine are BLUE!
I listen to a wide range of music from mediaeval to jazz to string quartets to world music to Wagnerian opera to very dynamic and complex orchestral music, with some John Lee Hooker stirred in there, too. They handle everything amazingly. The openness of the sound is impressive.

The LS60s also have stereo RCA and HDMI eARC inputs, so they're more flexible as an A/V hub.

I’m very biased, before I used DRC and subs I tried my LS60 as they are they are quite punchy in my room :)
Moderate volume seems right for the LS60 that’s where they thrive.

If you want to go louder ad subs then the ls60 keeps on going. ( that’s how I use mine )

If you want to go very loud buy something else entirely
