Upgrade from Elac Debut 2.0 B6.2

what would a logical upgrade be from this speaker? I’m close to a wall so need something with a front firing bass port. I have powerful amps so less efficient is okay and preferable. I think a 6.5” woofer is about right, but I do use a subwoofer. Thanks.

Would it be the Debut Reference DBR62 or could it be something else?

I think you have mixed up the models. The Debut 2.0 is also called the DB62. But DBR62 is a different speaker

After learning that the DBR62 uses the same drivers as the Debut 2.0, I’m going to pass on upgrading.

Then you’re missing a trick… the reference is very much a different speaker, stiffer cabinet and not the same drivers from memory, but just upgrading passives will make a huge difference

You said the same. Darko doesn't even claim that. The DBR62 has improved drivers:

"but, according to ELAC, the mid/bass driver chassis has been beefed up to reduce flexing and eliminate resonances and spider reworked to improve linearity at high excursions."

They are not the same. For example the Debut series employs stamped driver baskets, while the Debut Reference series uses cast driver baskets.

This is a review and detailed measurements of the Elac Carina BS243.4 stand-mount speaker. It is on kind loan from a member and sells for US $999.

Even though this is a speaker designed by Andrew Jones, it is a continuation of the line traditionally designed in Germany with much higher sales price and it shows. The cabinet and hardware is way above budget class. It feels extremely solid and well put together. This is the first time Andrew has designed a speaker with folded tweeter (AMT).

Back panel sports some of the fanciest, nicest, largest binding posts I have seen on...

I have read the Debut B6.2 is a newer speaker and a different design compared to the DBR62. So how do I know I would prefer the DBR62?

Since I invested in IsoAcoustics bookshelf speaker stands, I don't think these would work unless I ditch the stands.

I just pulled the trigger on the DBR62's. I'm super excited to listen to them when they get here!

I didn't want to go in a different direction since I'm already familiar with the ELAC sound, and it's a similar size speaker.
