How do you measure the transfer function of your room?

For practical purposes, there's no need to calculate the PFC precisely. It's the difference between the loudspeaker's anechoic frequency response and the loudspeaker's frequency response at a given point in the room for a given ear/microphone position. Again yesterday; I didn't offset the level:

MLP (natural front subs, w\o rears "absorbers") red, [quasy]anechoic green.

room.. around 18m x 8m
A very spacious room! Deserves decent speakers and subwoofers, in my opinion. Mine is only 4.2 x 9 meters.

So a similar function to HRTF when using headphones then.

Yes it's relativeky large for the UK though I suspect with hindsight my optical disto measurement device is subject to huge uncertainty! It's more like 9 x 5!

Pretty much like mine.)).
I reread the initial post twice, but I still don't quite understand what you need. In my opinion, a measurement microphone is a good and useful purchase.

ps: A pair of R600s is just four 6.5" speakers. That's smaller than even an inexpensive 15" subwoofer.

A itch that needed scratching that's all. A bigger more impactful sound, the "problem" is likely to be under performing sub than mains.
I have a Dayton mic that I use with my phone / Wiim app seems to work OK.

So to finish the story. The two BK XLSS400 subs arrived last week and the build quality alone is deeply impressive, they look more like expensive side tables.
Didn't take long to calibrate them to each other and then the room using the Wiim DSP. There's more than enough gain in the subs to match them to yamaha 501 set to max volume. Just wow. Holy moly the difference to the overall sound is quite incredible, I've set the crossover in the Wiim to 85Hz, sent full range to the subs but set their crossover to 100Hz. The extra slam and thump is to be expected and is impressive how tight it all sounds but even at higher SPL the Elacs sound brilliant, IM distortion seems to really be a thing, which makes sense of course. The Yamaha is hardly having to do much, and doesn't have to cope with the slightly challenging phase swing in the LF spectrum of the Elacs. I think replacing the Elacs with KEF R3 will make more sense but that's in the future, quite happy with what ive got right now.
