Here we are mid 2025 and in NZ the Yamaha Aventage units are being discounted considerably at the moment, which of course has me wondering if a new line up is due shortly. I guess we are 4 or 5 years since introduction.

Given the feature rich options they already have, what formats are on the horizon that would make them obsolete or dated ?

Would buying one now be a potential mistake ?

No more news on a CX-A5200 replacement / seperate ?

Wondering if people may have some insights and thoughts

Thank you

Eclipsa Audio, and open-source and royalty-free alternative to Dolby Atmos, developed by Google and Samsung is the only format that comes to mind.

Whether it finds its way into the home theater, and if so in what time frame, I do not know.

Samsung's recent acquisition of Denon and Marantz may well be the key to Eclipsa's success, if they play their cards right.

Interesting, thank you. Formats appear stable perhaps. I'm cautious, as last time I went out and spent large, I was obsoleted in less than 6 months when Atmos came out, along with HDMI changes (I borough the CX-A5000).

I guess time will tell is that format will be adopted. Getting the content producers onboard I guess might be the make or break

No news and they were kind of obsolete from the start. So much to work with.

HDMI 2.2. You might not need the extra bandwidth, but Latency Indication Protocol (LIP) is a long awaited useful feature.
