Unpopular Opinions in Music

"Unpopular opinions" indeed.
If music matters to you one bit, dismiss The Beach Boys, Brian Wilson, at your great peril, because you're dismissing out of hand one of the greatest composers popular music ever knew.
Brian Wilson made music with love, about love, made of love.
It's a work in progress that some members here are having a hard time here seeing and enjoying that.

And three part harmonies, and so did the Who, who mentioned that the Boys were an inspiration.

Spain.
Sorry if sometimes I make mistakes when writing in English, but it's not my mother languaje.
In addition to that I surfer of Atention Deficit Disorder, I use to speak or write, either in Spanish or English way too fast, sometimes not explaining myself properly saying or writing phrases incomplete, talking some things I try to say for granted, like in this case.
I should have written "I'm Spanish and I have lived in my home country (or de in Spain) for all my life.
Sorry for the off topic.
No problem

As OP said:
And let's keep it fun, no being a jerk. People hate what they hate.

There's all kinds of opinions I disagree with in this thread. That's kind of the point.

Also, if we're being serious for a second, we are not obliged to like music even if it is nearly universally acknowledged as excellent. I pretty much hate all metal music where the singer employs "death growls," even though that writes off many classics of the genre performed by true geniuses. It sounds horrible to me. It's not a "work in progress" for me because there are so many more branches on the tree of music than I will be able to explore in two lifetimes.

My brain simply can't process anything John Coltrane did after "A Love Supreme." Does that mean it's bad, or that he wasn't performing at genius level? No. He just went places where I couldn't follow.

As for me, Brian Wilson was good, occasionally great. He certainly wasn't firing on all cylinders with the consistency of Lennon/McCartney. Good Vibrations and God Only Knows are probably his masterpieces.

Thanks.
I also I must say that most of the threads I start of answer, I do It using my cell phone.
As I said earlier I'm Spanish and that is my mother languaje. Some of the mistakes you read on my answers are not really my fault, it's the corrector on my inexpensive Xiaomi cell phone that is kind of temperamental.
I disable the spelling checker on my cell phone, but everytime I switch It off and turn It on again, the spelling checker switched on again and defaults to Spanish languaje.
What a pain in the @ss...

Thoroughly overrated boy band.

The best song on Pet Sounds is 'Sloop John B.' But it should have been played on a ukulele.

Edit: Damnit, now I've got Sloop John B stuck in my head. Serves me right...

There's no accounting for taste, in music as much or more than anything in life.
"Pet Sounds", the Beach Boys' most celebrated album, is a benchmark in the history of music whatever you think.
And it would be a great shame if people acquainted with it and disappointed never heard "Surfs Up", or "Holland", or "Sunflower", and judged the band prematurely, without ever knowing the music.

That's a matter of opinion, Pet Sounds is good Chick music but the Beach Boys benchmark music will forever be there Car Songs and the only
ones I'll play on a regular basis.

That whole live show from the clip of Deuce Coupe is killer! Those guys had it down.

Those were the days my friend, for those who didn't live it will never understand.
Think anyone is ever going to write and perform music about their look-a-like, 4dr, hibread or battery powered crap boxes.

I started looking into car songs. The odes to particular models really falls off after ‘66. The last one that really stands out is Prince’s, Little Red Corvette. There was a rap one about BMW, Mercedes and Bentley. Mostly though people are writing about what takes place inside their cars…Beyoncé, Partition is an example.

Hmm...
Wonder if there's a Tesla song that's not AI-generated.

I mean there was a band called Tesla... from the Bay Area, even... but it was a different time, and a different Tesla.
;)

The definitive car song:
