For example a Topping vs a vintage Denon dac.
I've fixed a lot of domestic and pro gear. No brand gets it right all the time. E.g. a 1988 Denon ABC123 might statistically last you 30 years, but Denon's 1986 GHJ678 has insufficient heat extraction, a bad batch of electrolytic capacitors and poor soldering which means statistically 5 years is a good outcome. Although a made up example, every brand gets it wrong sometimes.

The only opinions that are unpopular here are stupid opinions. If you think your premise through, present it properly (meaning clearly) and base it on facts rather than pseudoscience or emotion, you'll find that it will be respected. There may be disagreement with it, but that is an entirely different matter. The scientific community has a great deal of disagreement, but that doesn't mean that the various factions don't respect each other.

OTOH, Flat Earthers and aliens among us? Ah ... nope.

Jim
What, there are aliens amongst us? That explains alot.

Or it's Abraham's nephew.
... and look what happened to him.
No - wait - that was his ol' lady.
Still... a regrettable incident, all around.
ASR is a broad church. Some here own tube amps, turntables, and I have seen a R2R in Amir's system ;)
Amen (so to speak).
Not only the Otari... let us never forget this epic review published one early April day (which I am sure was a coincidence!) a couple of years ago.

A lot and allot are pronounced the same, but they have unrelated meanings.

- A lot is used as a pronoun meaning “many” or “a great amount” and an adverb meaning “very much” or “often.”
- Allot is a verb meaning “assign” or “distribute.”
- Alot is sometimes mistakenly used instead of a lot. However, it isn’t a real word and should be avoided.
You forgot Alotta Fagina.

Dadblast it, this thread is triggering me, and all y'all're gonna pay the price! ;)

Ha! Stereo is "a lot" better than mono.

ALLOT needs to be quantified. Dude, this is ASR!
Stereo = 2, mono = 1, so 3 dB better?
What's the reference (zero dB)? Perhaps Simon & Garfunkel's Sound of Silence?
What weighting curve is used?
Dang it, this stuff is important!
;)

Three channel is the real fire. Stereo....ha!

Ol' Blue Eyes would never disagree.

Macs, Ampex tape, three channels, a few packs o' Chesterfields or Luckies or Pall Malls (or whatever), and ol' Rover by his side. Oh, and booze. Plenty of booze.
Where're Deano, Peter, and Sammy?

Unpopular opinions on ASR?

I wouldn’t know anything about that :D

That system looks so hilariously fun!
Oh, it is.
I was listenin' to it yesterday and it was pretty darned glorious, actually.

A lot--a piece of land.

Love flat earthers; do you know the intelectual effort needed to refuse all the arguments sustained spherical shape and stick to a single one?

I see a video where an engineering ask one of his members why gravity can be homogeneous in a disc, and he answered that in reality gravity is just the Earth disc accelerating at constant rate upwards.

I defend flat earthers as a delicious variety of human brains ;)

P.S; once upon a time, an pseudo scientist made an experiment in an english channel measuring the trigonometry of the mast of a boat which should disappear gradually from distance because of Earth’s curvature: curiously the shape of the boat and the mast remained unchanged.

True scientists explained the phenomenon by light diffraction by differences of density of the air, but today Earth Flatten Society celebrate the experiment confirming the absurd of the spherical theory once a year on a lake in USA.

I adore the interviews on place, once a year a see them on YouTube to have a good time. I recommend strongly to everyone who is irritated by unscientific opinions here.

I think I could have an Earth Flatter friend
