Announced all over on Tuesday. Better chips for better specs and most have the ability to bypass mic pres for input to the ADC.
The bypass of the mic pres? No, usually most interfaces you always even with line level signals go thru the microphone preamp. They just pad down the signal while doing so. So if you have an outboard microphone preamp and send it into the interface it is really going thru the on board mic pre circuit. Now those are pretty clean, but some people don't like it and rather go directly into an ADC bypassing the mic pre.wasn't it always possible?
I know that usually it's like that, but I was asking if that's the new thing in Apollos. It was always possible in the rack units, but on the other hand I'm not sure it's possible in the new X gen 2 desktop models, so actually nothing changedThe bypass of the mic pres? Yes several of the blurbs are touting this feature in the new X2 units.I know that usually it's like that, but I was asking if that's the new thing in Apollos. Ok, but they mention a lot of features already available before, like Unison preamps, so it may be old but a feature nonetheless. I have it in my old X8 anyway. Sonarworks is something truly new to X series and I wonder if they somehow made two slots for correction curve, one for monitors and other for headphones, this would be awesome.Yes several of the blurbs are touting this feature in the new X2 units.
you would be surprised how much prosumers and pros have in common with audiophilesThe whole pre bypass must be to satisfy forum users, those are the only people I ever see caring about such a feature. When the mic pres noise products are already so low I see no reason to bypass the preamp.

That is exactly correct. Yet it is a feature on low cost interfaces often asked for by consumers. There are a few ways it makes no sense. I don't think it will ever become the norm. The whole pre bypass must be to satisfy forum users, those are the only people I ever see caring about such a feature. According to the owner's manual it is more like -115 db. .00018% for the AD input.wow, -127dB, it's below to the limits of APX555View attachment 398785
That's the same as the Gen 1, but it's still higher than anything else. They do claim .000037% or - 129 db SINAD for the DA output of the x16 gen 2 model.
