I've noticed that the mains wire in the Hypex amps are secured to the bottom of the chassis. I have read through many of the wiring threads however there isn't much specifically on the mains wire being tied down to the chassis, rather more about it being away from everything else.

I am just curious, wouldn't the logic be for it to not touch anything than to actually touch the chassis?

A basic explanation would be great and if securing it to the chassis is the right way for mains wires to run across the amp?

shouldn't matter as long as the insulation is intact(!).

Okay that's good to know. There was nothing specifying that securing to chassis was necessary however I saw it a couple times and thought it might be the way.

Thanks for your input, good to know that it doesn't matter.

?

Hypex doesn't sell chassis. Hypex sells amp modules. The AC wires goes to a connector on the PCB. How you want to connect is the responsibility of the amp assembler.

There are computer chassis that route the power from the back of the case to the PSU in the front, using a cable no different from the normal external power cord.

Easy rule of thumb, if it is safe for you to touch when outside the chassis, it is safe to touch inside the chassis.

That said, indie builders don't always follow the rules and some commercial designs have decisions that look dangerous but are safe.
