I just installed REW on my Mac and attached a UMIK-1 to the computer. I bring up REW and installed the calibration file for the UMIK-1. When I try to use it with REW or if I talk into the mike, the bars are not hearing my voice. I go into the Systems Setting and speak into the mike and it is showing that it is indeed working. (It raises the bars appropriately..) Even though it show as Microphone and selecting the UMIK, the microphone appears that it is not working under REW.

Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks!

Is the UMIK-1 selected as the input device On the Preferences -> Soundcard page?

Here is the way my page looks like on a Mac...

You have to select the Umik as the input device in Audio MIDI Setup.app (Umik-2 pictured same for Umik-1. macOS 15.7.1.):

If you select teh Umik-1 in Audio MIDI Setup.app as the input source, it will automatically be selected in the System Preferences > Sound > Input:

What USB audio device are you using as the output device? According to your posted preferences screenshot, you have the Mac headphone output selected. Additionally, using two USB audio devices, one for the output and the Umik-1 for the input, could result in timing issues:

REW works out the clock adjustment by looking at how many audio samples there are between the timing signals and comparing it to how many there should be. When the replay and capture devices are different there will be some difference in their clock rates leading to different sample counts, but the difference should be fairly small, usually below 50 ppm. Big differences are more likely to be due to data loss, which cannot be corrected.

Here is what the Midi menu looks like. It doesn't allow me to edit UMIK-1. I am using an aux USB device. It seems to be generating tones/sweeps just fine. What sort of timing issue.... both are at 48k sample rate.

Did you upload the UMIC cal file? Also your sweep level of -30dB would require 0dB master volume to get you to 75-ish dB sweeps.

I am experiencing number of issues with REW for Mac, but at least have the basics working. What version are you running?

Yes, cal file is loaded. I'm running V5.40 Beta 101

Update to the latest version. In addition to having the Umik selected in Audio MIDI Setup.app, you have to give REW permission to access the Umik in the Security and Privacy System Preference under Microphone:

You should have been prompted when REW was first started to give it permission to use the Umik.

It did, and I thought I said yes to the question. It did not take me into the privacy and security screen.
