Watching a few episodes of this right now. Those truly were the days...

OK, this year I can recommend IT - Welcome to Derry, although it loses my in the last couple of episodes quite a bit. Still, better than the movies
Pluribus with one episode left to watch, has been this years disappointment. The pacing is way too slow and a lot doesn't really make much sense at all.
Alien: Earth, is a bit interesting because it brings in some new ideas, but again things where many things don't make much sense

I'm a little behind the times. The Pitt (HBO) started in January 2025. It is set in a busy city emergency room with an ensemble cast. So, yes it is yet another hospital series.

What is unique is that all the medical scenes are directed by doctors and nurses, for those scenes the regular series directors are not in the room.

The emergency room in the series is in a teaching hospital so some of the characters are medical student residents.

It is stressful, the patients are pretty realistic, patients die, and the staff have their own quirks and psychological problems. One of the main characters has PTSD from COVID deaths in the hospital, and one character is autistic. And of course there is the evil administrator cutting costs. There is some medical gore, but probably less than a city trauma care emergency room.

I searched ASR and only found a post on the sound design. There are not many quiet parts which adds to the tension. A lot of handheld and Steadycam shots. Clear dialog.

Recommend:
"Our Girl" about British Army medics.
"Rebecka Martinsson" and "Backstrom" Swedish crime shows with subtitles. Maybe subtitles needed for the Brit army show too. lol

The Pitt (HBO)
I recommend this as well. When I saw the first few episodes during screening I got hooked right away. Very realistic hospital series with good acting.

Other good ones I usually mention is "The night manager" just got a second season this year and "The little drummer girl". Later one was produced by the same company.

Currently: "Lincoln Lawyer"
Past: "Hotel del Luna" - Typical story of a 1000 yr old woman and her young (relatively) assistant running a hotel for dead people in Seoul.

I just found 5 seasons of "Southland". I only saw a few episodes when it ran originally.

Watching The Expanse, work got pretty hectic when it was airing and I had to stop at some point in season 3. Being able to watch it more carefully without any distractions reveals just how well this is written. Political sci-fi needs to be a more popular genre!

DARK ! I am such a huge fan of that 3-season show. Watch in the original German, with subtitles.

12 Monkeys TV show is not bad if you're really into time travel. Nowhere near as good as Dark though.
