Hi

I want to connect my turntable to my avr without cables.

I own a project evo2 turntable and a cambridge phono preamp, and i want them to conect with my Marazntz cinema 60.

In the naar future i am going to buy a streamer also if that migth help.

I know for the best audio quality, i need to use wires, but thats not possible in my case unfortunately...

Am i obligated to use Bluetooth? Or are there better solutions?

Thnx for your help

There are probably cheaper options, but WiiM products offer easy multi-room (wireless connectivity and choice of source).

Turntable/Phono preamp => WiiM Pro Plus (you need the Plus for the better analogue input) ~£200 GBP
WiFi
WiiM Mini => Marantz (Optical, digital connection) ~ £90 GBP

The Marantz is already a HEOS streamer though. I'm not familiar with HEOS equipped amps like the Dennon HEOS Amp ~ £300 GBP but that should also work natively if you plug your phono stage into it.

A wired connection will not improve sound quality. If your WiFi is really poor (drop-outs) then it would help with stability but that's all.

I like WiiM (bias) - it just works. They are also brilliant streamers in their own right.

So if i understatement correctly: connect a Wiim mini to my marantz, and a Wiim pro plus to my turntable. (I need 2 Wiim products).

Can i also use a Wiim ultra instead of a pro plus?

You can get a phono preamp and a inexpensive Bluetooth transmitter.

I allready have a phono preamp, but i would like to avoid Bluetooth because of the loss in quality.

But if i understand correctly and follow Jeremyfife's suggestion with the 2 Wiim's i would get no qualty loss in comparison to a wired connection ? For both the streamer as the turntable?

If i connect my turntable (and preamp) with a marantz m-cr612 or a Denon Heos link hs2, would i be able to send the music (wireless) from my turntable to the Marantz Avr? Because they both have Heos. Heos is 24 bit so quality should be good i think . Please correct me if i am wrong...

That should work. Try it and let us know.
Seems that i will allways need to use the heos app when i want my turntable to play through my avr, i dont want that so Heos is no option for me i guess

A WiiM Mini will supply 24 bit music to your AVR. 2 WiiM pro plus models are not necessary.

The only reason you would want a more expensive WiiM as a receiver (feeding the AVR) is if you want analogue signals. Digitally, the mini is as good as anything.

The limitation - which will not be audible - is in digitising the TT output. The WiiM Pro Plus does that to a standard that is better than vinyl can manage

Don't stress about 24bit / hi-res. The WiiM pair (probably HEOS too) will stream your TT signal transparently.

To be perfectly honest, a cheaper Bluetooth solution using a good codex will probably also be audibly transparent. Good enough. If you want to experiment, you could try a wee BT transmitter and see what you think!

I still like WiiM though

As long as your bluetooth can do the better bluetooth audio protocols (Aptx or LDAC) - you won't notice any loss in quality.

I used bluetooth when I had this issue - I certainly couldn't.

Hi,

So what are these people talking about ? Don't they say that there is indeed qualtiy loss? :

They are saying there is reduced bit rate when playing high res files - EG 24/96 reduced to 24/48.

This won't make any audible difference.
