I have my dac going to my tube headphone amp, an Antique Sound Lab MG-Head OTL Mark III, which has a transformer and OTL mode. I use the transformer mode and turn the volume up to about 1 o'clock, then run a TRS - RCA cable from the headphone amp to the amp, a Fosi Audio ZA3. It seems to add warmth and a bit of bass over going direct from the dac. I control the volume with the Fosi amp. Is there any reason I shouldn't do this or is there a better way to do it?

If I understand your description, you're feeding the headphone socket out, straight into that power amplifier. Assuming you are careful, I don't see any issues. Clearly, you are deliberately distorting an otherwise good signal, but if it makes you happy, go ahead

It was fun for a minute. It doesn’t sound better.
