Funny the discussion is on eartips now. If I had one complaint about these cheap miracles of modernity, and it's minor, it is that all the earpieces except the foam ones don't fit my ears. I don't think I have particularly strange ears, I'm usually just the "large" tip on most earphones, and silicone ones work fine in airpods and other IEMs for me. But none of the stock silicone ones for the TE Zero:RED work. No bass, meh seal, from small to large, from larger aperture to smaller.

Foams work great. Anyone know a good aftermarket foam tip for this IEM? Do tips actually have any effect on the sound for IEMs other than to the extent that they make a seal?
I got a pair of double flange eartips. Work much better. They are longer but conform better.

There are a few of good ones. Try Moondrop's Mis tips if you're on a budget, or comply tips mentioned earlier in the thread for a more luxurious solution.

Regarding sound, they do change it a bit, as foam tends to absorb some of the treble.

I found using KZ Starline tips, with an o-ring on the IEM nozzle as a spacer, works the best. The Radius Deep Mount tips also work well, also with an o-ring spacer.

Sweet, thanks for the recommendation, I got a set of the Comply tips, should arrive in a few days and I'll try those out. If they're even just "as good" as the foam which comes with the RED, I'm happy, there's nothing wrong with the foams, I just couldn't get on board with the silicone ones.

My personal experience with Red says the tips can change treble more than on other iems, you can see some graphs i posted on previous page, but they are all silicone tips, no idea about foam effect.

I'm the same way, only foam works for me. I use Sonic Foam, quite affordable but you have to buy 10 pair. I believe these are an upgrade from the stock foam tips. Comfort and fit and seal are excellent, great isolation and sound quality. No loss of treble that I can detect, but I'm down to 14kHz as an old fart.

+1 on Sonicfoam. You'll need SF0 for Truthear Zero.

I found on these that the wide bore option was required for me to get a proper sound, at first I thought it was a smaller difference but it became more obvious to where they sound like different models entirely. This brought me more into tip rolling, which I never wanted anything to do with, but now I think is a bigger factor than almost anything else we are concerned about in the signal chain. I'm currently liking the Tangzu San Cai wide bore medium for the Reds, but I don't listen as much now that I have found pairs I prefer.

Other than comfort, the only other IEM so far which radically changes sound for me with different tips is the Tangzu Fudu Verse1, where I have to use Dunu S&S Large to get a good seal in my right hear for some unknown reason. I've just submitted that I need a stable of tips and I'm not quite sure ahead of time what will work with any given IEM. Overall for me, the San Cai regular medium seems to be the best on average, with the stock KZ and Divinus Velvet being unusable for me. Still have plenty I need to try like the Renders, Sonicfoams, and some specific Spinfits.
