Yeah. I've found that I need +1.5 on the bass at the computer with a Topping EX5 compared to my Pixel 4a 5G. But at least it's there and not in some other part of the spectrum - bass can be adjusted to taste anyway.

Dr Sean Oliver shared his own measurements of the TE Zero.

His sample has more bass and less treble than the sample measured by @amirm

That’s interesting. I bought the $20 JBLs @Sean Olive also recently tested and found the had too much bass for me (driven by 14” MBP headphone jack). Two tracks I use for a quickie bass balance evaluation are Natalie Merchant’s “Ophelia” and Radiohead’s “How to Disappear Completely.” The sustained lower notes in Ophelia were overwrought and when the bass line comes in on HTDC it was elevated.

I didn’t have the Truthears directly on hand (they are my daughter’s school earphones) but I remember them being closer to my AKG N5005 in that respect, ie exactly right, when driven by the MBP.

So it's like the effect of different pads for over-ear headphones
Just to clarify, the reason for the bass increase in Dr. Olive's measurement is not the foam tips (=different pads), but the Amp he used (30Ω output impedance).

Channel Balance is good though! (I notice we've been able to explain away the increased bass due to the high output impedance of Sean's amplifier - yes that is a bit of a surprising oversight on his part, but beggars can't be choosers, ha!) (He was also using foam tips)

Play a test tone on the amp and measure the amplitude once without a load, once with a load. Then you can plop the numbers into a calculator like this and you get the output impedance:
http://www.sengpielaudio.com/calculator-InputOutputImpedance.htm

Do that with multiple test tones across all audible frequencies and you get an impedance response graph.
my laptop's headphone jack has 65 Ohm output impedance, Does that mean that it would measure even bassier than Sean's measurement?

Yes. With your laptop, the Zero will have even more bass than in Sean's measurement.
For $9, you can buy an Apple headphone dongle (A2049). It has an output impedance of 0.28Ω and will not affect the Zero's frequency response.

There's reports of it on Amazon UK of having reduced volume when used on non-Apple sources, is this true? On amazon UK it's this code: B07K2NH6ZN

EDIT: on further research it seems this is the case, but some players like Neutron Player can access the DAC directly and override the normal low volume limitations when using this device with non-Apple sources (eg. Android).

There are 2 issues with the UK/ EU version (as opposed to the US and other region 2049) . One is that its max output is 0.5V (the 2049 is 1v) and the second is how to access that full power on Android as Static describes.

Hi Guys
When using my IEMs today I noticed that it felt as if they were damp and some kind of liquid was coming out of them. This appeared to be on both sides, any ideas what the might be?

Many thanks

Damp after use or before? Did you see the liquid? What colour /texture?

Hi

I’ve shook one of them and more liquid came out of them it appeared to be brown in colour and felt a bit oily. I have now removed the ear pads in case it’s coming from them. I will check again later to see if it’s any different.
