I built a kit from soundImpress - Purifi Eval6 with SMPS1200A400 power supply.

I'm new to electronics, and got as far as i can with manuals but found some things i can't understand

Assembled, turned on, front indicator LED turns on, no sound.
Case opened. No indicator LEDs lit on FE board or modules
Tested with multimeter on fe board:

J3 1 is 0v (with S1 standby switch in either position ❓ this confused me - i thought it should flip ampon)
J3 2 is not connected
J3 3 is 20v
J3 4 not connected
J3 5 +12v
J3 6 0v
J3 7 -12V

I tested the J10
J10 1 is +65v
J10 9 is -65v

As far as i know, J3 3 should be 3v in normal operation, and 0v in error.
20v is alarming and i have no explanation for it

I'm not sure what to test next to understand further

Welcome to ASR!

Have you checked if your SMPS1200A400 was set to output unregulated Vaux, per Purifi's application notes?

It seems from your measurements of J3-5 and J3-7 (+12 V & -12 V), the SMPS was set to output regulated Vaux instead of unregulated (±22 V).

Just got home and flipped the jumpers - that was exactly right. All working fine now.

Thank you so much!

You are welcome. Happy Thanksgiving Day (if you are in the US).
