I too don't care about the movie, Jared person alone puts me off, but let's be realistic.

You know how big the difference in production cost is between a 2x12" album and a simple CD? Not even regarding the numbers made and according scale of production?

Hint: vinyl is expensive to make. CD costs mere cents.

I haven't bought a vinyl record in over a year. Modern vinyl is using the same loudness adjusted masters as the CD in many cases and the prices have escalated to the level of insanity. There are times when vinyl is the only option but I have moved to either CD or digital download if vinyl is the only physical option. I'm not spending three times the cost for a vinyl record.

Vinyl isn't just more expensive to actually manufacture and distribute, it's also subject to the halo effect where the sort of people who buy vinyl are simply willing to pay extra for it and the distributors are more than happy to take their money.
