I encourage you to get a simulation tool and model this.

For example here is the 4 Ohm Vifa woofer dropped into Troels' 8-Ohm crossover:

The 4 Ohm model (solid green trace) will roll off much differently than the 8 Ohm model the crossover was designed for. And would need new crossover to get the integration with the tweeter right. Which Troels says quite often on his website, that different drivers require different crossover.

I read somewhere double the Fs and you are safe to go?
Should I try another tweeter or go for a WAW?

Yes, 2x the free air resonance is a good rule of thumb. Slope of the crossover matters, waveguide can too.
