I’ve probably bought the Vifa but it’s 4ohm ‍.
Can I use the part for the tweeter and just put some kind of stop for the woofer in my journey in learning how to.
The spec sheets for the woofer looks almost identical.
I’m not into perfect just to make them sound without getting killed.
And try and learn upfront.

Thank you, I know
But as I see on his website the tweeter is a circuit of it’s on if this could be kept?
And just to put a simple solution to the woofer?
Is this crazy ?
Will this solution keep the tweeter protected?

Johan

I see this as a learning object if I can keep the tweeter safe and play with the woofer.

Johan

Could the components in the woofer crossover be moderated with a factor?
As a whole or component by component?

Try it with the standard crossover it probably won't make a massive difference, you'll certainly get sound coming out. :)

Then measure and see where you're at.

You will have to change the values for the tweeter as well as the levels won't be correct, creating a imbalance at the transition. As I stated it's best to get the correct parts if this is a learning experience. If you can get someone to redesign the crossover network for you, that's your best option if you don't want to follow the plan. Also, have you ever soldered wiring?

Yes I have soldered
Could I just use an online calculator and put in the impedance for my element ?
Linkeitz-Riley 2nd order ?
Give it a go and keep my components alive

I already bought the wrong components, not good but might be.
Think that this is my way of playing/learning to get/hear a result without killing the components.

You can test with the 4-ohm woofer, but keep in mind the crossover won’t behave as designed, so the balance may be off. It won’t harm anything as long as the amp can handle 4 ohms.

parallel 1/r+1/R=1/x
Series r+R=x

Is this the truth for inductive loads as well?
So I get a 8 ohm load ?

I encourage you to get a simulation tool and model this.

For example here is the 4 Ohm Vifa woofer dropped into Troels' 8-Ohm crossover:

The 4 Ohm model (solid green trace) will roll off much differently than the 8 Ohm model the crossover was designed for. And would need new crossover to get the integration with the tweeter right. Which Troels says quite often on his website, that different drivers require different crossover.

Thank you very much
I run Mac do you know a good simulation tool that would be good to start with?
I downloaded loudspeaker design cookbook 7 today so will dive in to this world ..

The one I linked should be more than enough untill you start measuring the driver's in the box.

Thank you but I only run Mac as today, as I understand this one is for windows only.
