Trinnov Altitude 16 Review (AV Processor)

Moral of the story it doesn’t sound like this will be an issue. I really don’t think I can afford to use 8cs for all channels in a home theater.
Yup. I use DACs and analog outputs for amps/passive speakers in L/C/R and subs along with AES/EBU output for surrounds.

Are you using the Trinnov as well?

Any thoughts on how an 8c would sound lying on its side?

Nope. Jriver/DL-ART

I am unsure about that. One would have to consider how the polar patterns would be affected by the re-orientation and the "side"-mounting.

Trinnov Acoustics today announces the release of AltitudeCI, a fully networked, Audio-over-IP (AoIP) processor designed specifically for the custom integration (CI) market. Scalable, flexible, and compact, AltitudeCI delivers premium immersive audio for projects ranging from high-end media rooms to DCI-grade private cinemas.

“AltitudeCI makes Trinnov performance available to more projects than ever before,” said Arnaud Laborie, Trinnov Audio Co-Founder and CEO. “This is the one platform integrators can rely on for every immersive audio project, regardless of scale, infrastructure, or performance demands.”

AltitudeCI is the first processor in its class to offer native support for both Dante® and Ravenna®/AES67, offering seamless compatibility across consumer and professional audio infrastructures. This “best of both worlds” architecture enables direct integration with Dolby Atmos® and DCI servers via AES67, while managing output through Dante without the need for external converters.

AltitudeCI brings Trinnov’s renowned performance within reach for a wider range of premium installations than ever before: it introduces a modular licensing model that allows integrators to specify channel count in 2-channel increments. AltitudeCI is available in configurations from 8 to 32 channels, with a custom 64-channel version arriving in 2026. Upgrades can be activated remotely via Trinnov’s extranet, maximizing long-term flexibility.

Exclusive Acoustics Technology

  • AltitudeCI includes Trinnov’s full suite of proprietary active acoustics technologies, including:
  • Optimizer™: 3D room and speaker correction system that precisely calibrates phase, EQ, level, and delay.
  • WaveForming™: Trinnov’s groundbreaking low-frequency optimization tool that actively eliminates room modes for impactful bass and unprecedented seat-to-seat consistency.
  • Remapping™: Ensures accurate immersive format rendering, even in acoustically or architecturally compromised rooms.
  • These technologies are delivered via Trinnov’s exclusive software-based platform with 64-bit floating-point processing: powerful architecture that enables exceptional audio fidelity and future-ready expansion potential.

Question is: Once Denon/Marantz offer DiracArt for the xX800 Range with up to 13.4 processing, will Trinnov stick to boutique pricing?

With 29 presets, assignable sources, optimizer, waveforming & the most complete ability to customize speakers and configure source input, I think their market place is secure from competition. Price is not an audible quality.

There is whole world of high-end home theaters, where Denon/Marantz with their basic adjustments and functionality are not enough.

I would say, Trinnov is in competition with Storm only and this new unit is answer to all digital ISP Evo for more complex all digital installations.

As noted, D&M is not really in Trinnov's league as far as ability to tweak. D&M flagships can do 15.4 though, which takes you up to 9.4.6.

Optimizer seems to be overall much more flexible than Dirac, however wave-forming is really tedious to implement so in my case at least hope that ART will do just fine.

Trinnovs target market is dedicated home cinemas, where the AVP is just one line item on a long list, and not the most expensive one. I would suspect starting price for the 8 channels somewhere in the 12Tsd Euro Region, and 2Tsd per 2 Channels extra, we will see...

I would assume it will be similar to NOVA and current Altitude 32 - around 300-400 per Ch, mayeb even less, as you do not add any HW.

How does the Trinnov Altitude 16 do with eARC? Most of our watching is from a streaming service and I read on another forum it was a problem. Highly doubt this is true given such a high end product.

It works fine. Even better if you switch to Roon.

The white lithography is not attractive, IMO of course.

+1
...but who cares ? It is a custom install product and will be hidden in a rack in equipment room so that nobody sees it
