Trinnov Altitude 16 Review (AV Processor)

Yeah, about 10 whole movies. If you own 400 and they go out of business, you get to keep 10 by your logic that you don't need storage. Sometimes, businesses just close shop with no notice too. They're not supposed to, but it happens.

The wait times are for full download unlike Apple TV that allows playback after sufficient buffering
I don’t worry about them going out of business. I suppose that is a legitimate anxiety for some about all product companies.

But, they have just released their Strato V that adds DV to accommodate those of us that use tvs instead of projectors. It also operates as a stand alone product with entry price 1/2 of previous entry combinations. Plus they have just signed a contract to start providing source films for movie theaters as well.

Is there a Kaleidoscope review thread? It'd be nice to capture this stuff there. My local dealer is pretty big on it.

Enjoy the above. It is essentially the best presentation video and audio for home use.

Oh you meant stop cluttering up this thread. Sorry

Hi,
Anyone knows what is the output impedance for an Altitude 16 or 32 ? Can't find this info in the Trinnov's spec :/

Did u mean impendance or analogue output voltage? The latter is 6.15v rms at 0db reference

Hi Golfx,
Thanks for your answer, I mean output impedance as I've written : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Output_impedance
I can't find any info about this parameter on the specs and on the web as well :s
The output voltage is well known because amir measured it during his review.
Sorry to have judged you as a newbie because of your low number of messages. Out of curiosity, what will you use this for?

@GXAlan measured the 32, so he may be abe to give you some ideas. If I am to guess, it won't be more than 300-500 ohms, even 600 ohms would be high enough.

I bet [email protected] can tell you. I am happy to measure it, but not sure how best to do it.

I imagine that if I measure the frequency response on the E1DA at different input impedances, we might be able to figure it out.

Run a sinewave through it. Measure the output open circuit, then at the same volume setting and input with a 600R* load. Easy to calculate the source impedance.

*It can be any other reasonably low load- I choose 600 because the AP analyzer can change load from 100k (essentially an open circuit) to 600R with a mouse click.

Hi, I would go maybe to AVSforum or smth similar - there are lot of very knowledgeable people re Trinnov.

5 second Google search:

It's 20kohms on the balanced outputs.

That's the input impedance, not output impedance.
Whoops. Darn Ai. ;)

All I could find is the rating for their Ovation 2 from 2019, which was simply listed as <100ohms for the db25 outputs. One might assume similar specs for the Altitude (or not)

I'm doing a review of it and will make sure to include this measurement. (Spoiler: it's low enough to not be an issue in any practical use case)

Thanks SIY for your future review. Don't hesitate to post the link later here : )
I was a bit surprised to not find this kind of basic info in the spec. I own an Altitude 32-8-8, but I think the output impedance should be similar.
FYI, I own a pair of Gryphon Poseidon (4 towers with 2 active for the subs and 2 passive for the mid+trebles) and I won't purchase a Gryphon amp to supply them.

I'm using an external streamer for audio, but see no reason to use an external DAC.
Same here. Pretty sure my amps are the weak spot for noise and distortion.
