Tour of Danny's Business

Only two things with lifters I can think of....the cables are so ridiculously heavy as to strain normal connection and/or you need room to vacuum underneath the massive cables.....
the cleaning issue (vacuuming) is the only reason i can think of to have lifters... come to think of it: i can't think of a legit reason to do more than 12 g lamp cord (other than long runs)...

This is why most audiophiles shouldn't be let anywhere near room treatment, good lord what is going on there?

Good heavens. I had no idea Danny was operating on that scale. What am I doing wrong?
Not selling Tube Connectors, Capacitors and other audio "magic".

Part 2...
This one is devoid of any information. They just play "audiophile" tracks that are used at shows that make most systems sound good. The praise from Jay is mostly on the polite side. I don''t see any excitement in his face. Not that it would be worth much if there was any.

Sealed lead acid batteries in the home is a no no.... explosion hazard.
Worse than that, they outgas and cause corrosion and smell horrible.

I still remember vividly how much they were praised when they came out. If the amp doesn't make it, its your fault, not theirs. The WATTs were considered to be the 'real thing'. The design is as bad as it gets, period. A winning contender for the infamious "... at work" and also for the overly eager customers an "instant carma".
I remember when they first came out I heard them at Progressive Audio in Columbus. They paired them with the Entec SW-5 subwoofers. They were interesting, but the sub did not mate well. The better pairing I heard later was the Watt III/Puppy 2 which I thought was by far the best of the series. It imaged like crazy, but the images were miniaturized for some reason. The bass blended well, however, and they sounded about right tonally. Later editions I heard had this kind of overly exaggerated presence coloration--kind of like Looney Tunes cartoons in audio form. Very much like the way Best Buy turns up the color temperature on its monitors to give them the punch to attract casual buyers. Wilson opted to do exactly the same thing with the later models of their speakers, no doubt to attract the guys who wanted to spend big bucks on a stereo, but had no idea what good sound is supposed to be like.

Regarding the listening room in fairness he did show his dedicated listening room is currently under construction.

The battery thing is nonsense though, why do people persist in thinking that's worth the bother?

I was quite surprised at the scale of the operation.
He has been touting that listening room as SOTA for years, but only shows it from certain camera angles.

@9:20 or so in the first video, Danny mentions that they cryogenically treat their cables on site.

@10:52 he shows where it's done and says for 6 days.

@19:40 the cable lifters.

I have mixed feelings about this thread. Seems like it can move from honest evaluation to mockery and Danny-bashing very quickly…
Are we supposed to not mock things like cryogenically treating cables (on-site!) and cable lifters?

Well some of it, sure. But after a while it just becomes Danny-bashing. I don't have any of his products and I have never met him so this is more a general observation. And it's not like he is here to defend himself. Anyway, just my thought.

It’s amazing that this seems to be promoted as some sort of feature instead of a bug in the design.
Seriously. That tweaky of off-axis response indicates some severely deficient crossover design - basic flat baffle speakers don't have anywhere near as severe a problem as this.

Skimmed through part.2 video, I get the impression that Jay wasn’t impressed, he was just saying super polite stuff to his host :)

And it's not like he is here to defend himself.
He is constantly "defending himself" in videos he creates, badmouthing us, what we do, etc. Indeed, I have a list of response videos people have asked me to do. So don't feel bad for him...

I'm glad you did not choose to give credence to that nonsense by creating a video response. At the same time, I suspect such a reply would have drawn considerable traffic and become extremely popular.

LMAO. Nothing about that is "SOTA". If you want that, you're spending 6 figures on a Northward room.

I couldn't make myself watch past the point where Danny claims that the styrofoam diffusers he's stockpiling are good for breaking up standing waves...

But I'm sure Jay is appreciating the extra exposure his video got from being posted here.
