OK so hive mind, do I have everything I need to use Dirac with my system? On the website it says:

'Your audio system and room acoustics are analyzed with a microphone connected to your computer, the room correction software then builds an acoustical model of the room with detections of the sound deficiencies - correction is made of the colorations of the sound. The technology handles both the timing and amplitude aspects of the coloration, or on a more technical level, the impulse response and the frequency response. The digital room correction software works with standard sound cards and USB DACs. No specialist knowledge is required.'

Reading other threads, it seems that in the past there was quite a convoluted process that required additional software to use Dirac. Am I right in thinking it should work as a stand-alone program now or is it still a plugin for other software?

I have installed the software directly from Dirac and it is asking me to scan my network for compatible devices without giving me the option of routing audio through my computer's USB DAC.

What in God's name do I need to do??! Help needed!

Also...do you have to buy the full version for $350?? Or is there a lite / free version?

Yes, it does work for PC/Mac based stand-alone configurations :)
the Dirac Live calibration tool will scan for a Dirac-enabled processor and in this case you need to download the Dirac Processor as well.
We will be pleased to enable you a testing license and provide instructions,
just contact us by opening a ticket on our HelpDesk:

Excellent Flak, thank you. What is a Dirac-enabled processor and do I already have one...? Obvs need a microphone but do I have the rest of the hardware?

If i remember correctly, the Dirac live processor executes the filters while Dirac Live generates the filters.

the processor can be anything an AVR, a miniDSP device, or in your case your PC.

I think recently for MacOS and Windows Dirac merged the processor and the generator together, so if you follow Flak's instructions it should be fairly straight forward for you.

If you have an omnidirectional measurement mic that's all you need,
kindly contact us on the HelpDesk and we'll provide instructions and a testing license
