Hi,

Over the years I used few topping devices and always had an issue with the remote control.
Currently I have the RC-16A with their preamp , I cannot express enough how shit is this remote control from topping , to increase the volume or any option from 2 meters is a challenge and nearly impossible , is there a solution or alternative for that , I will never ever buy from them ever again doesn’t matter the reviews.
Thanks in advance

Been using the same remote control for about 10 years now, with no issues. First with a DX3 Pro and now a E50. I sit directly in front of the DAC at a distance of about 3m. I can only think these issues relate to the angle that you are at in relation to the DAC.

My only complaint would be that there should be an option to switch off it's DAC/Preamp mode button. I worry about the volume going to 100%, due to a single wrong button press!

I have the e30 on my computer with the rc-15A and It’s fine when pointing directly , the slightest I move the remote to the side it’s not working, I also had a topping DAC in the past and had the same issues, those remote are not responsive and I point directly on this pre90 and nothing happens, on every 10 attempts one is working (with new batteries as well) , I remember I had the same issue with a bigger DAC module from them. I though to find another alternative or a newer remote model which works with the pre90

I've complained about Topping remotes for ages, so much so that I often haven't been able to recommend the brand.

However, things have improved, the TP RA3 amp has a great remote, first time where I've been happy with it. DX5 II is probably even better.
D50 III is one to avoid, as it uses BT and goes to sleep quickly and doesn't wake up fast enough.

So it seems Topping is listening

Agreed that remote operation of select Topping Audio gear is not competitive.

I have operated my E50 and EX5 at up to 4 meters with RC-15A and RC-22 remote controls. I perceive I have to aim each more precisely at the respective sensor windows than the remote operation of other brands.

My Topping E30 is the only device quicker than my whole house backup battery. It goes off if there is a power interruption leading to battery power. Every other device is not quick enough to notice the switch over. When it does the E30 remote will not turn it back on and I have to press the power button, so it sits in drawer.

I leave mine in DAC mode and use different company preamps because their remote is also not intuitive

I can turn my dac on or off at a distance of 15’ and an angle of 30 degrees. It is a RC-15A. I still wish it had better coverage!
The E70 Velvet may have a little better receiver.
