If power isn't your primary concern, you would actually lose out with a good TPA3255-based amplifier compared to the TPA3251-based PA5 II.But many of us love wasting money when it comes to audioMy PA5ii is working great and I only need half power for my usage. However, I keep thinking about getting something else though I know I won't hear any differences...
The TPA3251 has marginally better measurements and is therefore slightly more transparent, while the PA5 II is already among the best implementations and performs on par with the 3E Audio A5. However, the A5, with its two TPA3251 drivers, offers slightly more power, is 2-ohm stable, and has somewhat better channel separation due to its dual-mono design.
Even the improved measurements of a B100, Benchmark AHB2, NCx500, LA90(D), etc., are likely to be outside the audible range.
