TOPPING MX3s

Yes.
You can also install Wasapi, so try which one suits you better.

You need this to play DSD files
Ok. Tnx for all the answers. But the MX3s blinks if audio sample rates is changed with or without asio beeing installed?
Can it be that default win drivers also mathcs the current playing song?

As far as I remember, win drivers have no direct influence on the display of the bit/sample rate of the original file, but it depends on the settings in the audio player.
I used Windows a long time ago, now I'm on MacOS.

I just leave my Windows set to whatever I want and never bother with WASAPI or ASIO at all. I hear zero difference so it's not worth the hassle to me.

Yeah actually you just plug in MX3s and play.

Yes usually I just leave windows set to the highest bitrate I might play. With the mx3s that would be 24 bit 96 kHz because I don’t have any files higher than that. If the dac can do 32 bit (mx3s can’t) then I would set the unit to 32 bit 96 kHz. The mx3s is a good unit. Enjoy.

I find it great too.
One topic wiht foobar2000, latest version. There you have two choises for MX3s output.
Standard and exclusive mode.
If i select standard one, the MX3s device doesnt blink if audio sample rate is changed. My RGB lightnig of pc works smooth, set to music.
If i select exclusive one, the MX3s device does blink if audio sample rate is changed. My RGB lightnings but stops working, and aslo all other sounds.

So the exclusive mode force the audio settings of a song, but what does the standard mode?

I just got this little Topping amp to make a small system for when I work on my Mac Mini. The sound quality is great. It is too early to post a full review. However, there is a small nitpick that I would like to solve and did not find a solution for.

It seems to wake up on its own, for no reason. I am not sure how to avoid that. Whenever I leave my desk and come back after a few hours or a night, I find the MX3s on.
How to explain it wakes up this way ?
It is always plugged to the Mac Mini, which should be sleeping (and still appears in that mode when I come back). I still suspect the Mac sends some signal on USB from time to time. Anyway, I would like to resolve that issue.

Is there maybe an option in power saving on the Mac Mini to turn off the power to the USB port when the Mini goes to sleep?

I have not found any such option...
For now, I think I will just unplug the MX3s, until I find a solution...

It is probably the Mac sending a signal as you say, do you have any other inputs plugged in or Bluetooth connected that may be waking it up?
Unless you want to keep the auto-on feature enabled, you can disable it by pressing the 'Auto' button on your remote until the display reads 'A-C'

Ok, I will try that. I did the change without the remote (I have no AAA batteries and was not planning on getting any as the unit is hooked to the computer and I am always just next to it when using the MX3s...). I will report whether this works.

The USB drivers suck on windows 10. I had windows problems twice today und sound stopped until i replugged the MX3s USB. I got the amp since yesterday. I am note sure if AUX sound worse than USB, but currently it is connected with AUX.

Might be a faulty cable but sure I don't think USB sound is the best. I use a SU-1 DAC to the MX3s

i ordered now the SMSL 50 pro. let's see how that device works with windows.

edit: oh my god, the MX3s again shut down in windows 10 when i was lowering the volume....USB is unusable

I can't edit my post, but I want to say the SMSL A50 Pro has also a bad quality. Much noise on low volume.

What exactly is wrong with that amplifier?

Probably stupid question here.
I have a Topping EX5 DAC (which have a USB type B port) hooked up to my PC and a Sabaj A20a speaker amp connected to the DAC with XLR cables, but I want to purchase a Topping MX3s all-in-one to save desktop space. I've noticed that MX3s have a USB type C port. And here is my (probably stupid) question: it is a real possibility that the USB C end gets disconnected from the DAC due to the cable weight (I must use a 1.5m USB cable, because my PC is under the desk in the opposite corner) ?
The USB type B connector seems to me far more sturdier than USB type C.

My only problem with the unit is that I don't think the internal dac is splendid

The USB port of my unit seems fairly sturdy, like all the USB-C ports of all my devices.

(except the ones that have been plugged / unplugged for a thousand times or more, but this is not how one typically uses a DAC).
