Topping EX5 Failure

It's not that it failed (we don't what caused the failure), but that there is no reasonable path to save it from landfill. That's the sad bit.

If Topping freely provided schematics and/or service data, you could make a more informed decision on what to do with it.
A lot of the products would likely need firmware as well as spare parts, and that could get tricky.
 
I have never seen a pro audio device that will be damaged by unbalancing a balanced output. Putting a balanced output on something that will be damaged by an adapter is engineering malpractice.
 
Oh, and update: yeah, Topping got more money from me, and I replaced the EX5 with a D10 Balanced. It works great, was dirt cheap, and I guess I’ll pitch it in three years.
I have an update on my thread. I sent my EX5 to repair long story short I only paid 40 usd to get it fixed and shipped back and forth. Its now back with me and working fine.
