The E70 Velvet has been $350 all over the place for months now.
$350 is what I paid for the E70v on Amazon a week or so ago.The E70 Velvet has been $350 all over the place for months now.
There’s a power SWITCH on the back, next to the IEC power port. Switch the unit to off. Press in the volume dial on the front, and while holding it in, flip the switch on the back to On. You’ll now be in setup mode.Just received this DAC today.
How do you put it in setup mode??? Want to put it in DAC mode and change to 5 volt and in no way will it do it according to the crazy instructions.
Instructions: Turn the unit off, while holding the knob in, turn on via remote and it will be in Setup Mode... NOPE. Manual says press the knob to go thru different setting modes and this does nothing. What am I doing wrong?
Works fine. Beautifully, even. What's the latest on the Velvet and DSD over coax? I'm currently using the E50 with the P50 linear power supply hooked up to a little PC with ASIO drivers and a Wiim Ultra but looking for a more streamlined look. Even though I love the orange glow of the E50's screen.
I considered the SMSL PL200 as well but that's twice the price for the same DAC chip and a CD player.

LPS here is pointless from a power delivery perspective... 'aint going to change the audio output of the DAC at all.I'm currently using the E50 with the P50 linear power supply
Check out Eversolo.looking for a more streamlined look
Maybe this photo of Ultra next to E70/PA7 combo will give you some ideaWhat's the latest on the Velvet and DSD over coax? Beautiful setup!
Thank you!Beautiful setup!
No, the remote only controls DAC functions, and cannot control upstream/source devices. Is it possible to select next and previous track and play/pauze with the remote when the DAC is connected via USB input to pc/tablet/smartphone?
That's a very clean looking setup! What kind of speakers do you have hooked up to them?

You can't measure how an audio device sounds by measuring the output level of single sine waves. In the real world audio devices process thousands of sine waves at the same time. The only way to get an indication of how an audio device sounds by measurement is by comparing the actual complete audio signal outputs of a musical piece. It is completely possible that different devices that measure almost identical when processing single sine waves differ in the the processing of, for example, bass frequencies when at the same time handling a lot of mid and/or high frequencies, which will result in the devices sounding different. There seems to be a lot of baseless subjective comments happening in this thread referring to well measuring DAC's sounding different. May I remind posters that these comments need to be qualified, as they are misleading for other members... there is no point saying a DAC was too light in the bass or whatever without showing that they were level matched and compared properly without peeking. Keeping in mind, to date, no one has been able to prove any difference between well measuring DAC's.

Why would they sound the same? Because they measure kind of the same when you feed them single sine waves? You have spent 4.000$ on 5 different DACs with probably exactly the same SQ,totally inaudible differences, indistinguishable from each other, for what?
I mean it's your money, you can burn them if you like,I'm totally cool with that.
But that defeats the purpose here a little, doesn't it?
(except you have 5 systems, then I stand corrected)
You're talking to the wrong person regarding single sines. Why would they sound the same? Because they measure kind of the same when you feed them single sine waves?
I don't see what's "scientific" about concluding that when sine wave and pink noise measurements are sort of the same for different dacs means they will sound the same when playing music through them."Everything has a sound", oh like magic vibration rocks and God forbid, different sounding cables etc?
Can't say I agree. And if this is truly your conviction, I would seek a conviction-based audio forum rather than a science-based one. No ill feelings or meanings intended! Just a bit weird seeing all these things on an audio science forum.
