Topping E70 Velvet (AKM 4499EX)

From remote control I press FIR button , but the filters come from 1 up to 6 in PCM , instead in DSD there is no filter .
That's exactly what @Pojjo73 said.

6 filters accessible via the remote control, a special 7th filter accessible only via the control knob.

I bought the Topping E70 Velvet on January 15, 2023 and never updated the firmware , but I have firmware v1.04 .

I have always connected the DAC in USB to the PC .

Filter no.7 only appears when selecting filters using the dialer knob after the off and on procedure, not when using the remote........already mentioned that in previous post

Yes exactly , in fact afterwards I wrote this:

Wait , I did the procedure , I turned off from behind and turned on again with the volume monopole always pressed , and so if you manage the filters from volume knob F-7 it appears to me also , instead from remote control F-7 it does not appear

Amir's results for the E70 show 7;

That's for non velvet but probably it's (almost) the same.
Yeah actually, now I recall... the E70V uses a AKM 4499EX as opposed to the E70 which is ES9028PRO.

The Gustard A26 uses the AKM 4499EX, which shows 6;

Got an email yesterday from Topping Aftersales

Firmware version is 1.06. Filter selection in menu is normal now: Filter 1-6, and no.7 is not being displayed anymore, not through RC action, nor through the dialer knob on the device itself.

If anyone would like to have the firmware i am happy to share......

I'd say they used the same firmware as the E70 on the E70V... forgetting the DAC's have differing filter settings. Who knows what was happening when 7 was selected... probably default.

Anyone come from an E30 or D10 and find any sound quality differences or the same?

I'm curious too - if I run the E70 with a PA5 II (I have a Bryston B60, but would like to own a Class D as well), can I connect my speakers via bare wire? Is still a balanced setup then? Thanks.

You can use bare wire

I had an E30 II Lite, and I compared it with the E70 Velvet, but I didn't notice any difference in sound, I also have a D10s, and I can hear the difference, less refined on the highs, they are small nuances anyway, I also had a PA5 II Plus , for me in terms of volume it sounds really pianissimo, an Aiyima A07 Max sounds much louder, in terms of sound the Topping PA5 II Plus sounds very good, but too linear for my tastes, I prefer the Aiyima A07 Max in terms of sound, power and volume.
This is my video of the Topping PA5 II Plus
