Talk about ending up in the weeds. How do you possibly improve a device that is 100% transparent to the source?

Do you have some data on the E70 relating to "reliability" and "lifespan"? Or, just hypothesizing?

Do you have any data to show better capacitors wouldn't improve reliability? I've done electronic service for more than 40 years and have seen plenty of failures caused by inexpensive caps.

Again ....

And what capacitors in particular on E70 are problematic?

Don't be too tough on him. He has some points. Low cheap/quality electronic components, usually capacitors, can fail over time. Changing them now will not make any difference. Especially not in sound. But in the long term, it might.

You have no idea what you're talking about.

I purchased my e70 from apos on Nov 16, and today it started showing this error code and stopped working. Searching on topping's website shows the error code means the unit is defective. No other explanation of error other than "defective". Don't really know how to feel about this...
I guess I'll have to contact Apos for refund or exchange.

Did you try flashing it with latest firmware? If I remember correctly Topping has its own utility that flashes even bricked DACs. It’s been a while since I reviewed my DX5 so I don’t remember exactly. Might be worth a try.
