I'm open to other DACS but Topping has really great reviews and measurements are good too. I'm just confused between E70 or E70 Velvet.
Can you read the full thread. Here are all key differences fully explained. I really recomend it.

ESS chip Vs AKM chip.
that's the TLDR version. The longer version is that the ESS version is using the 9028 pro which is a much older chip and well-established.

The AK implementation is a brand new one out of it's new production line that Topping and all the manufacturers are just starting to implement. but it doesn't measure significantly better.

Each line has has its share of problem units as multiple posts in multiple threads have revealed.

It measures worse only a little, but... and 100 bucks more.

Yes. But what's the difference between the two ?

One measures a tad better than the other, but they probably sound the same if you listen without bias.

One has the word 'velvet' on the front. The other doesn't.

Consider APOS if you are in the USA. 2 year warranty is nice and if bought with certain credit cards maybe longer ...

FWIW consider a Topping E50 if you don't need a couple features. Best low cost DAC right now IMO. Audibly no different than the E70's ...
topping E50 / D50 + power supply Topping P5 = Topping E70

Both have sound filters (x 6 or 7). Please show me a DAC without filters, then we can compare!

Why does the E70 offer two output reference voltages (4 or 5volts, 2 or 2.5V SE)? I believe 4V would be chosen if the amplifier couldn’t handle 5V (or if you didn’t know). Is Topping allowing 5V only because the L70 can handle it? What’s the upside? Any downside?

2/4V for compatibility, 2.5/5V for higher SNR with amps that can handle it.

Thanks, Static… I’ll suppose the L70 can handle it, and that there will be no downside. However, I find it strange the feature or compatibility isn’t mentioned anywhere in the L70 manual, or that there is no L70 settings for it(?) You have to wonder about different amplifiers that make no mention of the possibility.

@ash1980 to interrupt ground loops
Sorry, I'm fairly new to this world so not sure what that means.

I'm getting a Wiim Pro and plan to connect it to each other via Optical and then also use the USB out from topping to connect it to my Macbook. Do I need this in-between my DAC and Macbook?

If you have ground loop related noise with your setup, then a USB isolator may help. But don't buy a fix to a problem before you know if there even is one.
Got it thanks. I have one more question, the topping DAC has optical input but the Wiim has SPDIF output ? What kind of cable I need?

both a Toslink cable and a Coax S/PDIF cable can be used to connect the WiiM Pro to the E70.

Anyone has experienced similar issues like this? Potential sound cuts when using coaxial.

Not a single problem after dozens of hours with my Nvidia Shield TV Pro, which sends USB audio to an SMSL PO100 PRO that in turn sends the signal to the E70 over coaxial. But that is about as pristine a signal you can send to a DAC over SPDIF, and therefore does not account for the more problematic high jitter sources out there like CD players.
