Topping E50 II DAC is up on the Topping Store

Unfortunately, even after installing version 1.51, the dac only worked properly for two days, after which it started to make all kinds of horrible and very loud pops and distortions again, until nothing could be heard. I don't know what the cause is, I think it's a hardware problem after all (maybe the no name opamps). I've already contacted Shenzenaudio who told me to return the product to China for checks. I'm very disappointed because while it worked, it sounded very good, but, unfortunately, the product has become unusable.
My device have the same issue, for few months everything work ok, but last week when I played from OPT input hear sometimes load cracling, and now i have no sound from BT or OPT input. USB is still working good. I thing this is hardware issue or latest updates goes wrong, I recently updated from 1.48, 1.51, 1.56 and 1.60..

I have nothing to do with the Topping brand, I have several products that work perfectly but this is a total failure, unfortunately.

What are ya'll runnin' for power into E50 II?

I've been using a Jameco 5V 1W linear wall wart. Been doing so with DAC's since 2020 E30 days and not a hiccup.

I use a 5V to USB-C adapter with the Jameco / E50 II

So far so good.

I am not a big fan of the split USB-C power system and use it or not option. This is a rather large DAC and not a dongle so I always prefer to have both USB-C's powered whether needed or not. I very much like the 3 prong power of my E70, E70V, and D30 Pro DAC's better. But saying that, I've had no issues at all with E50 II and the Jameco.

I have oryginal topping 5v power supply (linear - P50). I think problem begin after software update, but revert FW version didn`t resolved problem or maybee FW damage HW...
E50II required 5w power supply minimum

It worked! About 5-6 minutes... Then it started making those horrible noises again... I think it's becoming increasingly clear that it's a hardware problem, not a software one...

Well, it could be firmware. We had similar problems with DX1 II for a long time, it could work for one hour and then once the sound was messed up it didn't clear up again until turning it on and off or changing from USB to OPT and back

Contacted with Topping Service, they suggest that might be hardware problem, and need verified SN... and shop

Yep, probably a bad batch. I haven't had a single glitch. Ser# 2511752153

But, I'm also not attached to a PC.

Maybe try and disabling USB power management for each port if not already done. And enable Always ON in the Topping driver.

I downgraded to firmware 1.49 and everything is working again. Except the android app, since it now requires 1.60.

Hi.

Personally, I use version 1.51 and encounter absolutely none of the mentioned issues; everything works perfectly.

I do not use the 'POWER' connector located at the back, but only the 'USB-C' connector with the original cable.

The latter is plugged into a USB 3.2 port on the back of my mini PC (capable of supplying 2A).

I use powe usb-c (with topping p50) and data usb-c.
maybee there is problem ? This can damaged dac ?

Very unlikely. USB power takes what it needs. You can keep using this method

I am using it also that way without any problem.
Latest 1.60 firmware is working great for me. It fixes only the integration between E50 II and Topping App.

The E50 II adds the display/PEQ and the newer USB input, which are the real reasons to pick it over the original E50 - converter performance was already beyond audibility. As always, wait for Amir's measurements before assuming the PEQ implementation is clean; digital PEQ is easy to get wrong at the extremes.

Lots of reasons to pick it. On top of the latest chipsets, it does native DSD512 over USB (interesting for those who like to play with HQPlayer).

In high output/DAC mode, even the native DSD path puts out over 7v on XLR which no other DAC at this price range can do.

In Pre mode, it can hit up to 11v, which is fantastic for those with harder to drive headphones but amps with lower gain. Or if you need a lot of headroom like for editing raw audio. Of course it has a low output mode as well for standard consumer voltage ranges.

Again, something no other DAC at this price range can do and with all the other bells and whistles, it really feels like a unique value if you're after those features.

I bought two in case one goes bad and they stop making them, lol.

1.66

2. What's updated

* Fixed: An issue that could occur when saving EQ settings.

* Fixed: Bluetooth connection failure after a device reset and immediate reconnection after the phone actively disconnected.

* Fixed: An abnormal initial state in automatic power on/off detection caused by input switching range restrictions.

* Fixed: C1/C2 settings not being saved after power-off.

* Fixed: Brief switching to local EQ when disabling Cloud EQ.

* Fixed: The warning icon not flashing when Cloud EQ or EQ audition mode played an unsupported sample rate.

* Optimized: Firmware version synchronization and the UAC2 firmware upgrade display.

* Fixed: Some known issues.

Might be yours truly missing the change at an earlier update, but E50II is off the Topping Tune supported list and on the Topping Home list.
