Feel free to film and document yourself doing a double-blind test.I can only agree with that ! I have had several Topping DAC, the only one so far that pleases me was the D70 with the AKM4470. I have now this DX9 and i am very satisfied with the sound ( at least a decent sounstage !).
So the only Toppings that I 've found good was the ones with AKM chips. I know there are some people on this Forum asserting that all DACs have the same sound, but I coukld not disagree more with this statement
No. I am sure to succeed. And if not, it would mean that double blind tests are not tailored for such subtile audio test. (by the way, some have failed to diferentiate red from white wine in a double blind test...conclusion ? No difference between red and white...)Feel free to film and document yourself doing a double-blind test.
As described on the download page:How could I check the firmware version of dx9? Thanks a lot
The firmware version of your DX9 could be check at the DFU mode: Turn DX9 off by the power switch of rear panel. Then press and keep holding the knob, turn on DX9 by the same power switch, release the knob.
I think unlikely. I don't think Topping, SMSL and the likes are known for adding major features after product launchesCan I check if it was ever mentioned that dx9 will get peq as well?
im undecided between this pretty dx9 or a stack consisting of the d90 III discrete along with the a70 pro. The latter will come with peq but it also also have more cable mess to handle. I know I can run software eq via my MacBook Pro but there are days that I might just want to run my iPad for it which I understand that there is no eq method available for eq when it comes to Apple Music.
The headphone I have in mind will be the he1000 stealth.
Be it your smartphone or dap, the DX9 that will do the conversion, so the source doesnt matter. Do what is more convenient for you.I am awaiting arrival of my DX9 tomorrow and later today my Hifiman He1000 Stealth. How can I optimize this system? I have my music collection (mostly in DSD or FLAC formats) on my Android phone, about 400gb. I envision mainly playing these local files using UAPP app via USB OTG into the DX9. Could copying the music files to a dedicated DAP and then connecting the DAP via I2S to the DX9 reasonably expect to improve sound quality (in proportion to the 1000k additional cost of doing this)? Would love to get the opinions of more experienced people from this forum - many thanks!

Hi. I have a DX9 and HE1000 Stealth, and other headphones, and the sound is excellent playing FLAC files using Audirvana with the library stored on an external HDD. I also use a DDC. What I don't understand is how you want to use a dedicated DAP connecting via I2S. I think you will have a hard time finding DAP's that have an I2S connection. I think the DX9 is a desktop unit and you should use it in desktop configurations, with players like Audirvana or JRiver or a good streamer. I haven't even connected the bluetooth antenna on my DX9 and have disabled that option as it is of poor sound quality compared to wired headphones.
May I check if you are using eq for your setup? I’m considering if I should move in my Eversolo to the same setup as you instead of using my MacBook or iPad (no eq) as transport.
Thanks! Here are just 2 examples of DAPs with i2S: https://cayin.com/produkt/cayin-cs-...CyCUqlNVHug_IzgCTHurMxBLw63XpadWteLwjm7roZJPu (or the smaller iDAP 6); or this one: https://www.eversolo.it/dmp-a8.phpHi.
