Are you using the USB-C port in conjunction with power?
What about charging the laptop? Is it done on battery power?
I had an XPS 13 and I never had an issue like this, but it could be a problem/defect with your specific laptop.
I know that my buddy has a 6700k machine with such dirty USB power that almost every DAC hes plugged into it has had popping/humming even if the DAC itself has its own external power.

Suggestions on what to check would be appreciated.
My inclination would be to swap USB ports around for both mouse and DAC. It's possible that the mouse and DAC are sharing a resource in a less than harmonious manner. A few port changes may well alleviate the problem.

I switched the the DAC and the mouse USB ports and that has seemed to remedy the problem. It has reduced it but not eliminated it. I wonder if it is a static issues since cold and dry out and have a plastic chair mat that creates static when I roll on it.

The computer is on a different outlet then the DAC. and is on its own $60 power surge strip

Any ideas to to eliminate the static loop ?

Thanks for your help.

Static? Is the issue constant or does it change at all? I wouldn't have expected a static issue to be totally unchanging. Try everything you can to reduce the static – a different chair mat! Try different ports altogether for the devices, to attempt a more balanced use of the motherboard resources. Try not using the anti-surge strip; it might possibly be compromising the earthing.

If all else fails, borrow or obtain an ADuM based USB isolator on approval. These are as near as you will get to genuine transformer isolation of a USB port but they cannot do really high speed modern USB. Do not get one from a specialist audio supplier; something like this should do at no more than about $40. It might work placing it in the mouse USB port, so no messing about with the DAC!

Looking at the SINAD chart the topping DX7s scores 108.
The topping DX7 not showing the ES hump measures better, can i assume it will also score 108 or higher on SINAD?
