I run Linux, so Windows issues are eliminated. You mentioned a 'PC': which OS is it running? (Windows, Mac, Linux...).
If the PC is running Windows, the issue might stem from one of their 'flawed' updates—something that happens frequently...
You might want to try your DAC with a Mac or, better yet, a Linux-based PC to rule out that possibility.
Beyond that, I don't have any other suggestions to offer.
Furthermore, given Topping's obvious expertise—especially since they created the device itself—I doubt they made a poor decision regarding the unit.
Troubleshooting a device of 'this caliber' would cost more than buying a new one, considering the hourly rate of an experienced, qualified electronics technician—and, as I mentioned, doing so without any schematics, relying solely on the user manual.
I bought the DX5 II from Shenzenaudio over Amazon. Here in Germany they have to comply with certain warranty regulations. By law they would have to at least offer a repair, but would also have to cover the shipping themselves. Because they operate from China, they said the shipping costs would be too high, so they took the decision to just refund and leave me with the brick. Topping themselves weren't directly involved.
