Topping DX5II teardown

Hi. Could you please tell me how to disassemble the DX5 II? I took mine to a repair shop, but they didn't know how to disassemble it, so they refused to repair it.
I’m interested in this as well, because once the warranty expires, I might try replacing the ATAZ power supply with a Mean Well or a Mornsun unit.

TRANSLATION: You need a 2 mm Allen key, unscrew the two screws at the back, then the two screws at the bottom, and finally you need a 2 mm Allen key at least 15 cm long, which you insert into the place of the screws unscrewed from the back and loosen, this will allow you to remove the front panel

Note that they've apparently done some work and installed a different "rack" (sockets) for the 6.3mm + 4.4mm balance. All photos are from this same thread. The very beginning (August 2, 2025) and the end (from April 20, 2026)

How long have you used the device since purchasing it? What outputs did you use? Did you listen to speakers or just headphones?

So you have a brand new DX5II for 100 euros? Unbelievable!)) I dare say that to avoid problems with the balanced 4.4mm output, you should first buy a 4-pin XLR balanced headphone cable. Have you tried listening to the DX5II on speakers? How does it sound?

I got a 15V 1.6A linear power supply that I want to use instead of the built-in switching power supply. Can I just desolder the power brick and wire the new one to the same part of the circuit board? (naive novice)

Probably, but why? It will still have switching regulators between it and most of the analog parts, and the measurements show there's nothing much to improve anyway.

That's the kind of pro info I need! Thank you :D
I wanted to upgrade because I noticed a difference with my other xduoo tube amp. Although skeptical at first- in a blind A/B test, I could easily pick out the linear power supply due to its clearer and deeper sound.
Didn't want to give that up. But hey, if something like that is baked-in, guess there's no need for it.

Welcome to ASR! I am sure that you could hear a difference, but it is highly unlikely that the difference you heard had anything to do with the power supply (unless something was broken).

Carrying out a truly blind A/B(/X) test is actually quite hard, but when done properly the perceived differences almost invariably disappear. There's thread on blind testing here: https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/catalogue-of-blind-tests.8675/

I would categorize both the DX5 II and cables as fully transparent if not the wrong filter isused... the much larger system limitations lie elsewhere, like room and speakers. And obviously even ears.
