Once again, thank you. It was driving me nuts.

I submitted an official bug report with the information that I have, thanks to your help. I hope they won't need a video, but I can easily do that since it will take no time at all. When I am back in front of my computer at home, I will even check if it does this with any of the other cross feed profiles.

Topping replied to the bug report:

"Hi,

Thank you so much for your detailed feedback! With the clear instructions, we were able to successfully reproduce the issue and have already forwarded it to the R&D department for a fix. It was indeed not easy to spot at first due to certain settings and operations."

So for now, everyone should avoid using the JanMeier Crossfeed profile.

This morning, when I turned on my laptop (running Windows), I noticed that the DX5II had also started, which meant I hadn't turned it off with the back switch. I was surprised because most of the DX5 settings were gone, and I had to reconfigure them all. This is the first time this has happened, so the new firmware is probably to blame.

If you are using the JanMeier Crossfeed profile, that could explain that. If you're not, them that'a a mystery right now.

I don't enable crossfeed at all...

It's a mystery, then... I never turn mine off, I just let it go in/out of standby mode, and I have not had that happen outside of the specific issue with the JanMeier Crossfeed profile.

Hi, do you think this is a safe buy if I'm not planning on using the 4.4mm? I want something with optical in, XLR stereo pair & 6.35mm out and a quick toggle to switch between outputs. The K13R2R and this seem like the best options, but I'm worried the dx5ii would explode on me. But reading online it seems most peoples issues came from using the 4.4mm, which I don't need.

I've never used 4.4 and would buy another unit if needed. It doesn't appear to be perfect but at least it's getting tons of firmware attention from the company

I can only speak to my own experience, but I've had no issues with the 4.4mm headphone connection. I've even had both the 4.4mm and 6.35mm connected at the same time (switching between outputs often, but never while content playing). Some of those issues are legitimate, but some could potentially be that the 4.4mm jack wasn't fully seated -- I experienced similar issue the very first time I plugged in a 4.4mm connector (no sound out of the left channel, and the right was quiet, and crackle-y), but all that was needed to correct it was pushing in connector in, quite literally, less than a mm more. If you're not planning on using the 4.4mm, then you likely will never encounter such issues.

Are you on Mac or PC?

I had it happen where the DX5 II would completely disappear in the Audio MIDI app on Mac, but it turned out to be a faulty USB cable.

Tried it on two Macs and a PC - switched out the cable and tried with different adapters and hubs. Updated firmware to latest. Music is playing and it’s appearing in audio midi app but won’t appear in TT. So strange!

And your version of Topping Tune is on the latest (v1.14)?

I got the DAC 3 days ago and then downloaded Topping Tune, so I didn't even bother to check, but it actually is v1.14...seems strange to me that i am the only one who has this problem - at least of the people that go on the Internet and post about it
Points in the direction of the DAC being the problem, maybe?

Potentially, but if everything else works fine then it could be something else. The DAC might not show up if you have the sample rate in the Audio MIDI app (or the PC equivalent) set higher than 192kHz. That is one of the limitations of the PEQ feature.
