Topping DX5 remote control issue with the menu

I have a DX5 and sounds great…I can access the menu by turning it off and restarting by pressing down on control knob…all good.

However I can’t seem to access the menu by pressing the M button on the remote control. Red light flashes but nothing happens on the screen. I can change volume, source inputs, PO>LO and LO>PO, I can change the filters, brightness etc using the Remote Control…I have changed the batteries…Aiming at the right place but nothing happens on.
The only thing I haven’t checked is the firmware…Could that be the culprit? Or am I missing some? The Topping manual is a bit unhelpful to say the least.
Any advice would be welcome…

I have tried to find out what the current firmware is by connecting the DX5 to my Mac…turning on the DX5 and then turning bit off…pressing down the volume key and turning on the DX5..I should see the firmware currently on the DX5 but all I see is the menu… So where am I going wrong? According to to Topping the most up to date firmware for the DX5 is v1.42.

Any advice or suggestions? Do I have to use a Windows computer to find the firmware currently on installed on the DX5 or can I use my Mac? I am now quite confused by all this!
