Topping DX5 II

It kept the purple theme for me at least

Your DX5 trivia for today is that the display actually doesn’t turn off. Just the backlight turns off.

I was cleaning the smudges off the display and shined my phone flashlight at the panel and realized it was displaying my current settings and volume level. If you turn the switch at the back off it turns the display off as you’d normally expect.

After the update to 1.69, the headphone volume memory does not work correctly. If you turn it off with the rear switch and then turn it on, the headphone volume returns to zero (0 dB), before it remembered the volume. Be careful with headphones.

I have not noticed the same behavior. However, I use Bluetooth.

Just for clarity it does go your last volume setting, but starts and actually plays sound at zero before lowering?

I cannot replicate this. Give it 5 seconds to save the new volume settings.

if you were listening to music, let's assume (MINUS - 30 dB), after turning off the device and turning it on again, the volume will return to ZERO 0 dB!!! which is very loud

It did not. I tried it several times. I use it in Preamp mode with USB input. What are your settings?

I have tested it in DAC mode and it does indeed set HPA volume to 0 dB after using the switch on the back as @Mario1969 has said. Use Preamp mode, if you are using headphones.

Holy crap, they don't seem to ever get this one right

Does it actually output sound when it is still at 0dB or do the outputs activate only after it returned to the previous setting?

My DX5 ii came with firmware v1.67, and so far I haven’t had any issues with it. I’m really reluctant to update it lol, and might just leave it at the current version.

when turned on again, it activates at 0 -zero- dB... which is the maximum volume , so if you have headphones plugged in... it may damage it as well as your hearing.

But does it actually have the outputs activated before the volume returns to the previous setting (before it was turned off)?
It can show 0dB on the display momentarily. That won't harm anything if the outputs are not enabled before the start-up procedure (including resetting the volume to the correct attenuation) is completed.
If the outputs are activated after the volume is corrected, it's perfectly fine.
If the outputs are hot before the volume is corrected that's an error in the start-up procedure.

버전 1.69로 업데이트했습니다.

Yes, I tried turning the switch off and on again, and the memory worked.

It seems different for me. I'm using the default settings.

Example: Would you try turning off the EQ?

This patch saved the EQ to the memory, but it might not be saving the volume.

Did the engineer focus so much on the EQ that they forgot to patch the volume saver? ^^

Anyway, it seems like there's a problem with the EQ or something. I think it would be best to send the video to Topping.
