My guess is it's likely going to be the same as the current DX5

What difference would that make? It doesn't cost more or less, it doesn't achieve anything, and streamable MQA titles are only available by chance because the process of replacing them with standard formats isn't yet complete.I wonder if they dropped MQA on it.
Outside of the PEQ situation, I've liked Mac a lot better from an audio perspective! LosslessSwitcher for Apple Music is great, and music players can automatically switch sample rates without going into exclusive mode. And my only issues with PEQ software have been with browser-based activities. I like Mac a lot better for productivity reasons, though I still use Windows for gaming stuff. And I've got a few Raspberry Pis and a Steam Deck so I've got Linux in the rotation too.Best to not use a Mac![]()
It adds to the price, thats why i was wondering, look at DX5 and DX5 Lite. What difference would that make? It can't raise the price because MQA is dead and there is no license fee anymore. It adds to the price, thats why i was wondering, look at DX5 and DX5 Lite.
Topping DX5 II would be an ideal DAC for WiiM. I currently use SMSL DO100 Pro and DX5 II would be a good upgrade if I use UMIK-1 / REW for room correction. WiiM can provide L/R separate 10-band PEQ and DX5 II provide another 10-band PEQ (stereo?).
I look forward to purchaning DX5 II when released.
FYI. I use toslink between WiiM Pro Plus and SMSL DO100 Pro. I thought about various options such as miniDSP Flex, IK multimedia Arc 4, Raspberry Pi-based DSP. These options have pros and cons. I consider DX5 II would be the least complex upgrade path for my current setup and add a headphone amp.Depending on the WiiM model, I don't think you need to use an external DAC. Also, depending on the model, the WiiM has a 10-band PEQ feature.
I would not.I would replace both (and the Headphonen amp) with the FiiO K17
Depending on your needs for DSP and your Headphones also the MiniDSP SHD Studio is a good option
Wow, you are really using all the platforms. Personally, I have great distaste for the current versions of Mac OS, despite having more than a couple Macs growing up. I also can say that I dislike the way that Mac OS totally logs everything you do today.Outside of the PEQ situation, I've liked Mac a lot better from an audio perspective! Yeah, using Apple products makes me feel dirty for many reasons but now I have an iPhone, a Mac Mini, a Macbook, an Apple TV...the usability of everything outweighs my philosophical distaste of Apple products.Wow, you are really using all the platforms. However, being able to switch sample rates is definitely cool. You used to be able to do that on Windows. But they got rid of that, I believe, with Windows 7. Possibly with Windows 8 when they forced everything into WSAPI.
To me, Linux is the best of all worlds, but since I do software for games, I really can't use it in most applications, so I mostly use Windows.
Wild how anyone would buy a ton of products from a company they disagree with because they "like" the ecosystem that locks you into it, forcing you to purchase more products from the same company that you don't like.... Literally every other platform can be better if you put time into it.Yeah, using Apple products makes me feel dirty for many reasons but now I have an iPhone, a Mac Mini, a Macbook, an Apple TV...the usability of everything outweighs my philosophical distaste of Apple products.
BTW, just to keep this on-topic...still no sign of the DX5 II, but every evening I'm checking Shenzhenaudio to see if it's up for sale yet...really hoping it's rolling out prior to if and when the tariffs set in.
I totally agree, but the USA is a big market. Something had to have happened for them to forgo the release and not even share an update despite missing the release date by over a week now. What has a release to do with tariffs?
If they are not sure about the US price, than skip this small market compared to the rest of the world and release it later there (or just let your vendors do the work)
