Topping DX5 II

I've installed it, and set up some EQ. Seems to work OK, but sadly... I'm still having issues. This time it's that the EQ isn't being set for each output correctly.

I have three EQ memories set. One for my PM3 headphones and two for my desktop speakers. If I switch between HPA Balanced and LO All, it's pretty obvious that the EQ from the previous output format is still set, and the UI also shows this.

What's additionally strange is that when you try to move between EQ memories, the UI initially doesn't change the first time you try?!?

Do you have the PEQ memory option set to Output instead of Input or Disabled? I have two EQ profiles for two headphones that I use for balanced and single ended. I can set EQ1 for HPA BAL and EQ2 for HPA SE and it automatically changes between the EQ profiles as I change output.

Are you sure that it’s actually changing? If you’re just going by what the UI says, don’t trust it… set a really strong so that you can really clearly hear the difference.

Sorry, I forgot to say, yes, I have the PEQ mentor set to output.

Yeah I can hear it changing. Visually when listening to Arya through balanced it says EQ1 top left HPA BAL, when I change to HD620S with HPA SE it says EQ2 and listening to music through either it sounds wonky because of these ridiculous EQ presets that I set to test - The EQ profiles were too similar to hear the difference

I hear the same issue. With these profiles EQ1 has a distinct weird bright sound and EQ2 sounds like music playing in another room. With EQ1 set for HPA BAL and EQ2 for HPA SE, if I switch from HPA BAL with EQ1 to HPA SE I hear EQ1 even though it says EQ2. I have to manually switch through the profiles to EQ2 to hear the "other room" EQ sound. So this is definitely a bug that needs to be fixed.

A workaround for now would be to store the EQ1 and HPA BAL on C1 for example and then EQ2 for HPA SE on C2. Then switch between them via C1 and C2 buttons on the remote as the EQ switch works when switching between the configs.

Just installed it. Not bricked. Menu colours have been fixed. Relay clicking on HPA SE witrh headphone unconnected has been fixed.

Preamp/DAC mode volume memory has not been fixed. However, I found out it needs about 3 seconds to memorise the volume. Still, in preamp mode, it turns on where it was last set in DAC mode if volume is not changed in preamp mode. In DAC mode, it works fine. So, overall, this is not that big of an issue.

I may test more at a later time.

To add, KHz has been corrected to be kHz as promised.

I certainly hope people are reporting any new issues.

Just updated firmware 1.39 > 1.49 without any issues. Process is as smooth as can be.

Topping replied to my e-mail today and they issue might be related to firmware (hope so) so I will be installing the new firmware tonight and pray for the best :)

Can EQ be used by some phone app, no laptop ?
Not yet. Somewhere in this thread there was talk of iOS and Android frontends in the making.

Just had a brief listening session with fw 1.49. No issues. But I do not use those "advanced" features anyway.

I installed 1.49 today (7/23). I have 4 EQ filter sets with a different EQ set for each of three outputs (LO, HPSE, HPBAL) [Vol & PEQ follow Output]. The name I've given them appears in the PEQ settings menu. I've turned on and off both Topping Tune and the DX5 ii. All the EQ filter settings remain.
Question: I only use button "A" on the remote to toggle PEQ on and off. What are other uses for A, B, C1, & C2? Thanks!

After updating to the new firmware I just noticed that the display showed HP DC abnormal and stopped the audio while listening to one specific track in my electronic music playlist. Does this mean the DC protection is working? This was the first time that this happened.

Music that caused it to show up: https://tidal.com/browse/track/402060193?u

How loud were you listening/what HPA gain setting?

Low gain setting and volume at about -25 to -18 db. I cant exactly remember

Edit: I dont know if this matters but I was also using Tidal & DX5II in exclusive mode

I'm sure there's someone here who can check the track you cited to confirm if it's DC.
