Topping DX5 II

If you give them clear instructions, then they shouldn't have any trouble reproducing the issue. Just from what you have said, it seems like it's a pretty easy issue to reproduce :)
I don't think it's going to be easy, Im almost certain that it happens after a few days without using it, but it also happened to me randomly. The thing is that Im sure that they arent going to wait a few days to try to reproduce it. Nothing I can do anyways..

I would make two videos. The first one where you make all the settings.
Then, every time you turn the camera on, let it run until all the settings are gone, and show that in the video.
I already have a video where it started with a reset but not a previous one where I got my settings. I will do that. Thanks

If you are within the two weeks, send it back. They cannot charge you 30€.

Then wait until the major problems were fixed with that device and choose different seller.

This procedure with making video sounds like a lot of time to spend, sending lots of emails. It's not worth the effort in my opinion.

One thing you could maybe do is reinstall the latest firmware if you have not tried that already.

Audiophonics' terms and conditions state the following:
Conditions for the return of the Products
The Products must be returned in their original packaging and in perfect condition in the fourteen (14) days following the notification to AUDIOPHONICS by the Customer of their decision to excercise their right of withdrawal. Products are to be returned in full and in their original state (packaging, accessories, instructions document…) so as to be sold again as new, with the related invoice.

The damaged, used, dirtied and incomplete products will not be accepted and their shipping back will be billed to the Customer. As an exception, these Products can be accepted to be refunded at a reduced cost (a discount of up to 30% will be applied to the original price).

In a case when the right of withdrawal is exercised in the aforementioned period, the price of the purchased Products and the standard shipping costs will be refunded.

The return fees are incumbent on the Customer. If a return label was provided to the Customer, its cost will be deducted from the refund.

If the delivery of a returned parcel entails custom charges on the part of AUDIOPHONICS, those charges will be deducted from the refund.

They could charge up to around 90€ that way. Anyways, return shipping and customs have to be paid by the consumer. Depending on the region that can amount to a fair bit as well.

Not sure if this is old news but just noticed its probably going to be a very long wait for people who haven't already ordered to get one. 1/4 year wait at this point.

Yeah. It sucks either way because :(

It's largely why I order mostly from Amazon because I don't have to deal with that sort of nonsense.

Yeah. Sadly, it was not avalaible here in Spain at that time, that's why I ordered there.

I ordered mine on the 14th of June (it should be shipping pretty soon - likely before the end of the month, it seems, just looking at the tracking a moment ago), but I recall it was up on Canadian Amazon a day or two before that. Not sure about Amazon in the EU, though.

Seemed like it was pretty easy based on what you've described so far. Does it not happen every single time you switch it off from the back?

No. I used it yesterday and turned it on/off like 5 times and it didn't reset. So Im not 100% of sure of what causes it.

What main problems exactly are you referring to?
@Tano has a specific issue with his device.
The other is a problem with the tune software for PEQ.

Not sure if Topping got back to you on this issue (I think you reported it?). It seemed quite severe, so I reported it too and they just replied with this:

Hi,

Of course! This issue will be resolved in our upcoming firmware release — please stay tuned!

Wow. That's amazing, man. Thank you very much. I was still waiting for the mail that I sent to [email protected].

Hope that they are really going to fix that and that It's not just my unit's fault, cause it's weird that no one else reported the same issue here.

Appreciate your help.

Hopefully they fix it! This next firmware better be quite the answer to these reported issues.

Which means they will not charge anything if merchandise is returned complete and in perfect condition. What you will have to pay for is shipping. This aligns with european law. No tariffs on trade between Spain and France, by the way.

There's a new version v1.06 of the Topping Tune software (so not firmware for the device itself) which seems to have fixed the EQ profile saving issues at least for me. Does it fix it for anyone else? Previously when restarting the custom name would be invisible on the device when switching between the profiles and would have jumbled letters in the Tune Software but now seems fixed.

This was the only bug I personally encountered (other than the settings not saving between restarts which fixed itself) so it'd be great if this was solved.

Found new firmware dated July 17th 2025 with this changelog so maybe some of the changes we can expect for the new firmware. I don't want to post the link as the firmware might be untested or broken but thought the changelog is interesting.

*Fixed: After detecting abnormal headphone amp DC, the main interface no longer displays "HP DC abnormal".
*Fixed: Audio distortion when switching sampling rates via USB DoP input.
*Fixed: Display lag when rapidly adjusting volume in FFT and VU meter interfaces.
*Optimized: The 5 system preset PEQs can now be edited (parameters and names) or deleted directly via Tune.
*Optimized: EQ entries in the menu are now shown as "number + name" instead of just a number.
*Added: Option to retain PEQ configurations when restoring factory settings.
*Added: In the FFT interface, when adjusting volume, switching inputs, or switching outputs,
a large-font display will appear for 3 seconds before returning to the normal interface.
*Fixed: Several other known issues.

I would like to know what those "several other known issues" are .

And here's hoping it's not long before they officially post this on the product page.
