Topping DX5 II

Well, I'm glad they don't exclude it from the sales simply because it's new
(I'm just going to wait for the official shop to deliver, I think I'll get it faster through 'em, just slightly more expensive.. )
I had hoped that would be the case, but even though I got a shipping notification, it hasn’t even been picked up yet!

Pretty frustrating.

Comparing the current reviewed Luxsin X9 ($1,100) to the Topping DX5 II.
Is the X9 really worth 3.5 times the DX5 II (I'm waiting for my DX5 II - to replace a EX5)? PEQ on Line out vs sub out? TV optical vs HDMI? No streaming on either? I plan on using LDAC (audio quality) for streaming. I don't have a subwoofer.
Both devices seem to be advancing "Smart DAC" (Thanks amirm) technology.

To me they said 1-2 weeks extra to get the black one instead of the silver one, which should be very soon
But I also was probably one of the first to purchase..

The deal is insane. Fully balanced, can get rid of software apps for EQ for my HD800S and just for 200 euros. The RME at 1200 euros is completely killed.
Well not really.
You get higher voltage output from xlr with rme so you can drive power amps in their lower gain. Also better volume control with reference voltage being changed so you always get the best dynamic range. Also a lot of software features, better remote better reliability better after sales support....

Its not so easy to compare.

Could still buy a pre-amp considering how little DX5 II costs..

But then its not one box solution.
Additional boxes cables, yuck...

Im only getting dx5 because of higher power output than RME. Still probably wont sell my RME. It will be waiting till dx dies lol ;)

Ps. What I mean is that not only price is important hence dx5 vs something like RME is not as easy to compare as it seems. Anyway....

Yup, but might be for the best. There are some reports after all about Topping products going full volume. Probably not very common, but enough of a concern.

The only thing the X9 has over the DX5 II is HDMI ARC in and all that does is to allow you to control volume via your TV remote unlike SPDIF. Otherwise I have no idea why anyone in that review thread keeps rationalizing its price.

I wonder what will happen to my order then :p

My order shows as shipped, but if I look at the tracking, it hasn't even been picked up yet.

The refund was for the delay in shipping. I ordered well before they put the notice regard the 1st batch being sold out, the 30 day delay and the pre-order status on the product page.

When did you order? I ordered on the 12th and the white. At that point I don't think it even had the plug selection nor any delay notice.

For anyone who has their DX5 II in hand right now: Is the warning on the Audiophonics site about the PEQ not being available right now accurate?
