Topping DX5 II

Could be a PC-specific thing since it was totally fine on my Mac.
I think the issue is with the program you used to open the ZIP file. Opening the .zip with either Windows Explorer or 7-ZIP on my PC shows a 'DX5 II FW2.27' folder with the other files in it. I dragged the .topping file to my desktop and then to the DX5 II and it installed straight away.

Question Experts : In Topping Tune for Windows there is a "Pre-amplification Gain" knob. I use Amirs settings numbers for my headphones and set each point manually, (verum 2 and AKG 371s.) I also set up a PEQ for Senhesiser HD650s from a net search (manually). None of these have any info on where to set the pre amp gain. Right now I am using -2.0 on the Verum and AKG as not much boost in bass is needed and -5.0 on the 650's as there is a fair bass boost. (Note none of these were imported files, they were entered point by point manually. QUESTION: How do I determine the real gain decrease I need to prevent clipping. How would one determine this using math or whatever or can the software to auto determine the gain setting and I am just missing something in topping tune settings. Thanks experts. (I did look for a Topping Tune thread here but there does not seem to be a general one,)

Strictly speaking the issue is that the program that created the zip ignored the requirement to use / as the directory separator, not \, defined in the zip format specification. It's a known issue with Powershell's Compress-Archive for example. Some unzip programs have a workaround for it, while others don't. If you unzip with one that doesn't have a workaround on a system that uses / (so almost everything that's not Windows) you'll end up with all files in a single directory, and with the directory name(s) and separator(s) as part of the filename.
I would have linked the Compress-Archive issue, but they recently hid the issues that used to be visible in their github repo.
Select the display for combined filter curve and change the gain so that highest part of the curve is below zero on the Y axis.
Usually, but not always, you use negative gain equal to the highest filter’s positive gain.

Thank you, sounds easier than I thought.
I'm going to update to 2.27 tonight, however since 2.14 I've since received another issue. stuttering noises in my headphone is now gone which is good. but switching from my Mac for work and PC (both connected to the same usb hub on my monitor dell U2724DE) doesn't work as seamless before. my PC is not detecting the topping automatically until i switch off and back on from the back button. whereas switching from PC to mac is seamless, my mac is connected via thunderbolt 4 and it just detects it seamlessly. might be a windows 11 thing but before it was just fine, and all the usb connected in the hub is detected just fine as well (microphone, etc)
I've been partially following Topping DX1 II DAC discussion on ASR's recent review. People unfamiliar with Topping are currently quite unhappy with immaturity of Topping's firmware and their approach to firmware development.
I received my DX5 II in September 2025. As is my custom on most devices I've kept all the firmware updates. I count 13 revisions in under 9 months. That's just for my period of ownership. There were more before, but I intentionally tried to wait before purchase for some stability.
If you are unwilling to deal with this you should look elsewhere.

So, my unit died today. It had been on FW 2.27 since June, 26th.
Initially the unit was still being recognized by USB when powering up, but it wasn't functioning at all. The display kept displaying "UID Error" soon after turning it on.
Entering firmware update mode wasn't working either. The display would get power and light up, but nothing would be displayed.
After a couple of power-off / power-on cycles, the unit stopped turning on altogether (at least the display wasn't even turning on anymore).
Occasionally, the display still would turn on when trying to boot into firmware update mode, but nothing would actually be displayed and the device would not be recognized on USB, so no way to try and go back to a previous firmware.
I contacted support and they're reviewing my case.

I bought it on Amazon, but it was sold by Shenzhenaudio. So, it's possible that they'll ask me to send it back to China, which will take quite some time.
That's interesting, what will be the answer or offer from Amazon/Shenzhenaudio to fix your issue.
When did you buy (how old is your device) the unit and in which country?
I bought it in December 25, so not even a year old.
Country is Germany.
There is new version of Topping Tune V 1.16. It's not on the website, but you can upgrade from within 1.15. Alternatively direct download is there, but not on the website:
