Topping DX5 II

Is the DX5 II now compatible with the Topping Home Android app? I've heard mixed comments over time, but I'm wondering about the current status.

Not yet

Its not a wifi streamer though, so I'm not sure what anyone would need an app for?

If you use, say, the DX5 II in a system that is not your desktop computer, it would be a way to apply/adjust PEQ settings without connecting it to a computer. And also, some people prefer to control their devices from their phones.

Ah yea that is true, but wouldn't this app only work over wired? So are people really plugging their phones into the DAC with a USB cable?

BT is an input that exists on this device.

BT Quality isn't good enough though, so it kind of defeats the purpose of buying a HQ DAC just to ruin the potential quality output with BT? Weird

I'm talking about BT with regards changing the settings/adjusting PEQ, not output.

Why? Bandwidth for audio should be enough.
50MBit/s is possible, how much do you need?

Ah yea, that would be useful I suppose if you can be connected via coax / USB / optical and then adjust settings via an app over BT. Basically just turning your phone into a remote with an app.

No testing with BT has shown good SINAD performance with real music. Even LDAC struggles with redbook quality. Aka there is no reason to buy a high end DAC to utilize BT because all the "high end / SOTA" capability is washed away by BT.

That's essentially it, yes, although it may not even require you to have the BT input selected for that -- you probably just have to enable Bluetooth in the Input settings (not the Input Option menu).

I would hope not, but that would be interesting in terms of how the connection works from the app to the device.

Exactly. I'm not interested in using my phone as a music source. I'd be interested in controlling the DX5 II from my phone, including volume which might be more precise than the regular remote.

Yep, we would use that over here too. I use my SU-8S for volume control on our living room speaker setup which we use all the time for music at the house.

Haha, I like the slogan "an IMPRESSIVE" :D
I did the update, and of course it did the factory reset thing again

Dear Topping and dear santa... (you know the rest)

ps. Oh after the update I notice high pitch noise (like a coil one) getting out of the unit. I'm not sure if update had anything to do with that, maybe it developed some time ago IU just noticed it. It stops when for example I change eq profiles and relay shuts output, but comes back just after the relay passes signal.

Hi all. Could anyone please explain how to upload peq file for my Sennheiser HD560s and ofc where to find it?
I’d also like to know whether the loaded PEQ configuration would work only when using the DX5 connected to the Mac, or if it would also work in stand-alone mode.
Thanks

Maybe the new update introduces excessive "resource" usage that makes the coil whine audible?
Have you tried a firmware downgrade?
Is the noise also audible through the audio outputs, or is it limited to the unit itself, and is it very loud?
I honestly don’t know what to do, I’m terrified, every day a new issue comes up.
I’m tempted to sell mine while it’s still working…

I'll try to downgrade later.
Whine is only audible from the unit itself. Outputs seem to be quiet.

As for the loudness... I can hear it with my open headphones on my head when nothing is playing sitting next to the unit.
Is not loud I have to focus but it's there.

And you know how they say, once you hear it you will notice it for the rest of your life ;)
