Topping DX5 II

hi. currently i have dx3pro+ and as output i use Meze 99 classic gen 2 and Mackie mr524.
i would like to switch to dx5 II because of xlr balanced output because my mr524 make a lot of noise. due to faulty spdif output on MB in pc i have to use usb output. and then the mr524 make a lot of noise. so i decided to get dx5 II or k13 R2R. is dx5 II with the latest updates ok?? because i read a lot that there was a problem from the beginning and they fixed a lot of it gradually. will dx5 II or k13 R2R be better for my setup? i mostly play games and listen to music via tidal and spotify. thank you very much for your advice

Topping responded to my request about Bluetooth codecs.

Thank you for contacting TOPPING support. We are happy to assist.
Thank you for your suggestion. We will forward this requirement to the R&D department for further evaluation. Currently, you can also see the format of the audio currently playing in the phone's Bluetooth settings.

Maybe an USB isolator between your computer and the Mackie?

Not with every phone but we already established that ;-)
I replied with the exact same answer. I also informed them that I am not using only a phone.

@Matias there is a cheaper option from JDS Labs. The new Synapse Max

Speaking of reducing unwanted noise... and apologies in advance if this is obvious to some of you...
Would a ferrite core equipped USB cable have any impact with the DX5 II? Seeing as it is equipped with a wireless radio antenna for its Bluetooth functionality, or would it be negligible as the BT and USB are not used simultaneously?

if I don't want the usb isolator. and I have to choose between dx5 II and K13 R2R for my mentioned setup. so which one is better?? I read a lot about the dx5 II that it has problems. were the last fw update solved? and the last question that interests me, regarding the chip is there a big difference between dx3pro+ vs dx5 II??? is it worth switching from dx3pro+ to dx5 II?

You can use a USB to SPDIF converter like the SMSL PO100 2024 and use the optical connection.

Just bought HiFiMan Arya Stealth and Sennheiser HD 490 Pro, would you say that Topping DX5 II will be the best in that price range amp/dac or is there something better I could snatch for that price?

Yep, man for that price yes. But you know audiophiles never stop, so I moved further :)
But support of Dx5 is great and finally most of launch issues are fixed.
PS> Looks like we already talked on FB

Schiit Magni Unity with the mesh DAC is $200 and not plagued with the firmware issues people on this forum are having to troubleshoot every week. No built in PEQ or screen is what you're trading off for the extra money, but even the PEQ is buggy based on some stuff in the other DX5II thread.

Looks like this one, and the 1.91 prior have been pulled from their site. Any ideas why?
Topping have been updating their website design today. It seems a bit broken at the moment, so maybe the links are missing due this.

The firmware was previously available on a downloads link (which I am watching with (Distill Web monitor): https://www.toppingaudio.com/downloads

However, this page is no longer linked from the site's main page. Firmware is now a tab on the main Support page here: https://www.toppingaudio.com/supports

Isn't 1.91 firmware available anymore?

It's available by direct link, but not from their support website.

You can change the 1 to a 3 to get the later version. However, they may have pulled the 1.9X versions for a reason. I'm on 1.91 and it's the first version of the firmware I've used along with Topping Tune 1.14 that hasn't been a disaster for PEQ.

I was planning on updating to 1.93, but will wait it out.

This is "Cha Bu Duo" in action. The Chinese Concept of “Cha Bu Duo” Is Not What You Think It Means

They tend to cover the problem rather than solve it.
As for bugs, they are often more likely to be issues with the management and people rather than technical problems. :)

Edit: This is not to blame individuals. Instead, they hope to rely on everyone's "self-awareness" rather than rules.
