Topping DX5 II

sorry i meant on the amp/dac it self not the windows app

when i turn off and then turn on again the amp/dac unit the eq profiles i saved to the device with topping tune are gone and i have to add them again

edit: to further clarify the eq profiles i saved disappear both when i turn off the amp/dac from the back of the unit and also when i turn off the unit via the remote it came with and they no longer show up on the amp/dac unit and in the topping tune app on the device section

The profiles disappear from Topping Tune, but they are still present on the DX5 II (if you don't make any changes in Topping Tune).

If you setup a profile as EQ6 on the DX5 II and set PEQ memory to remember PEQ setting based on an output (e.g. HPA BAL) you will see that the DX5 II switches to EQ6 when you select HPA BAL, even if Topping Tune does not show EQ6 as present.

EQ6 is PEQ for my HD 660 S on HPA BAL and EQ7 is PEQ for my iLoud MTMs on LO BAL, I happen to be playing through the MTMs at the moment...

guys i know all that

it saves the the dx5 ii device fine at first but the moment i turn it off and turn it on again even on the device my saved eq presets get reset to the default presets

EDIT: it reverts back to this every time i turn amp/dac device off and then turn it on for user config even if i delete the default preset eq profiles they somehow get restored also

I might know what's going on... try this... after you turn off DX5, try closing TOPPING TUNE as in the picture, turn on DX5, reopen the application, wait a moment... if that doesn't work, close it again and reopen it. I forgot that the same thing is happening to me... but I assumed everyone knew how to proceed.

thanks i tried that and it saved the 2 eq now but the eq does not sound right , like the pre amp part is all wrong and everything else also

like i increased bass by +12 db low shelf and when i enable the eq the bass does not increase at all

EDIT: i cant even get that method to save now i had it like mentioned before but its not working now, i upload the eq to device, close topping tune in tray then power off device and power on device and my eq is still missing

it only works when i upload the the eq to device and i have the device powered on, the moment i power off the device my saved eq gets deleted and the even the preset default eq comes back

ok ill try that, i did that like 3 times already though

EDIT: i did and it still does not work

If you've already done it, there's no point in doing it again.

do you think my unit is defective or its a firmware issue

i just got it yesterday from amazon shipped and sold from topping audio

and thanks for trying to help and everyone else also

I don't know if it's faulty, anything is possible, but it's very likely that it's a software problem. I've read a few stories on this forum about broken DX5IIs,

Please reset the device to factory settings, flash the firmware, restart it, and then reset it to factory settings again.

It’s strange that everything is working well for me on macOS using PEQ. Maybe it is related to Windows.

Can someone please confirm if I’m right? When it comes to headphones, we usually prefer the L+R configuration in Topping Tune if we want to EQ them. On the other hand, L/R is typically used for speakers, isn’t it?

I've got this pop up if I change to L+R
(Example Sundara EQ)

Correct.

L/R would be useful if you're aware of significant channel imbalance, either in your headphone or in your hearing.

One of my headphones is audibly quieter on one side, so I use this option to compensate for the volume.

Ok it makes sense. Thank you both of you.
Why is channel balance typically common with speakers? Is it because of the different acoustics from left to right in a room?
Having speakers at home seems to be significantly more challenging to set up than headphones. I believe placement is crucial, as acoustic considerations also play a role.
