Topping DX5 II

Topping Tune has always done that. It's not the DX5 II, so it won't matter what FW version you're on. It has to be resolved with a separate Topping Tune update, and I have a feeling they won't fix that.
Topping Tune seems to store the PEQ as local config with no issues. How do you know it's Topping Tune and and not a limitation of the PEQ implementation for the DACs?

It's certainly possible that it's a DAC limitation (the XMOS chip?).

I am using a raspberry Pi 4 with CamillaDSP for PEQ: it takes sometime to setup it and understand how to get the best from it, but there are basically no limitation and the results are outstanding.
It works with USB input and as AirPlay receiver.
There is a great guide here:

Many of us bought the DX5 II because of the integrated PEQ capability. I could revert to EqualizerEPO + PEACE on Windows if I had to, but I would then lose PEQ capability for my SMSL PL100 CD player which is connected to the DX5 II via TosLink.

I have nothing against CamillaDSP, i've used it myself on a Pi4 with PlexAmp headless. I installed it using the same guide when it was originally hosted on ASR: https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/rpi-camilladsp-tutorial.29656/

Stopped working today :(
It was running FW v1.67.
Symptoms: black screen, not recognized message by Windows via USB.
DFU mode does not appear after powering on with the knob hold.
Really frustrated, as it's only been two weeks since I bought it.
Is there any way to perform a hard reset?
wow.... :( maybe it's the power supply..., that's why I turn it off with the rear switch, instead of the soft switch

Tipping replied to my issue of the C1 and C2 buttons not selecting the programmed eq by asking me to try this firmware out. Take the gamble?. I probably will.
Keep in mind historically version changes that aren’t x.x1 x.x2 usually return settings to default. Not the end of the world.

try it and let us know if everything works fine :)

1.72 installed fine, but it reset all settings... So back to changing those for the 100th time. Then to test...

DC Detect sens is either high or low, default is high.

oddly enough, the 1.72 changelog omits the changelog items from 1.69, goes right to 1.67 as shown below.

V1.72 (September 22, 2025)
-
*New:Menu->Advanced->DC detect sens
*Adjustment: HP DC abnormality detection scheme to further reduce false triggers.
*Fixed: In DAC mode, the volume can still be adjusted via the knob when set to Line Out.
*Fixed: Several other known issues.

---------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------
V1.67 (September 6th, 2025)

*Fixed: The issue that the mute - icon didn't disappear after adjusting the volume in mute state.

Edit: Testing... My C1 and C2 issue is still present in 1.72. Not a big deal since I have not just been using the knob press to move between outputs on my desktop setup. Listened to a few songs and it seems to be as good as always. I have not seen any issues besides the one I mentioned.. I really do love this great performer.

Does anyone know if losing the settings also means losing the pairing with Bluetooth devices?

I commented in the DX5II review thread before I saw this one, but I'll ask here too: I just received my DX5II and I'm unable to get the firmware update to install. Mine is currently running version1.57 (or so I believe as I'm not currently home to confirm). I have followed the steps to update firmware and have tried coppying both V1.69 and V1.72 (not at the same time, obviously) into the created drive, however nothing happens. The "Topping File" just shows in the drive, however it does not "disconnect then reconnect" as it is supposed to do (?). If I then restart the DAC, it dissapears from the drive as well. Version then still shows original one. What am I doing wrong? *novice and imbecile here... EDIT: issue fixed thanks to member's advice.

I could not get the update from that firmware to work on my PC, but when I ran the update from my Macbook Air it worked. After that I haven't had problems running it from my pc no more either. So it might be something triggered in that specific firmware and/or drivers under certain circumstances.

Thanks for that. Actually that is a Windows 10 laptop that sits in my entertainment system, however I haven't tried it with my Windows 11 PC in my office, so I'll try that later. I just realised too that I could check the security and permission settings of the properties of the drive to make sure they are enabled- I'll try that later too.
