Dual DAC, hybrid powerful HP amp, large screen and PEQ on all inputs. Of course it should have excellent measurements as all modern DACs and HPs amps from Topping do. And it looks very nice too! Seems like a winner to me.

No idea on pricing yet.

With such output power, it clearly cannot work only from a USB connection. Apparently there is an external or internal power supply. But these are just rendered images for now.
I wonder if they learn from their mistakes or continue to connect the amp outputs directly to the headphone jacks? Many of these Topping / SMSL units have already burned out due to the lack of output short circuit protection.

Too bad they ditched the original DX5 design, they could've just made it bigger. Hopefully the LCD display turns off completely and no damn BT remote

I haven't followed topping products for a while. Did they resolve the EQ quantization noise bug? also is it possible now to have separate EQ settings for each channel?

I like the look of this. It could be a contender to replace my EX5. I didn't like the look of the DX5 and IIRC, the pre-amp functioned a bit differently from the EX5 and would not have worked well in my setup (actually, maybe this got fixed in a fw update).

I never really liked the round design of the original DX5. This one looks to be more in line with the D70 Pro design language.

This would certainly feel right at home in my desktop setup near my PC. And if it is cheaper than the original DX5 at €450 it would be an instant buy for me.
Though that assumes similar rear connections to the original:

I hope they understand that more inputs is better, this is something SMSL at least has in some models

This could be an absolute game-changer, though I'm hopeful that they wind up going with a web-HID approach to PEQ management to make it possible to use on Mac/Linux. Even Fiio, whose apps have historically been a mess, has outpaced them in this regard.

DX5 was ugly, this looks nice, especially in white.
Shit, I was telling myself I don’t need a DAC/AMP and that my MacBook Pro headphone out is fine - but now this has me tempted if the PEQ is good… (and if the issue Johnny_2000 mentioned earlier in the thread is resolved)

I don't think many of you have owned a DX5, it has the nicest green screen for instance

This is probably the device I will be waiting to see reviewed the most. I am more of a speaker guy than a HP guy, but there are many times, given my taste in extreme metal and my wife's total opposite taste**, where I will listen to music on my computer system with my closed back Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 250ohms (also have Senns HD600s).

I want DAC and HP together, I want USB input from computer and flexibility of HP connectors. The bonus is this has XLR output in case I do end up added power monitors (future expandability). But given my infrequent use, $500 USD, is about all I will stomach. The lower models just leave me wanting something here or there. I hope they don't mess it up.

** she also loves Opeth and Gojira [neither really extreme anymore] and has been to countless shows with me. She doesn't however tolerate my love for Meshuggah, OSDM or disso-BM.

Any idea whether this has a passthrough function like the L50?

NVM, I realized it probably doesn't need a passthrough... guessing I'd just need to toggle between HPA output to RCA/TRS/XLR external amp output.
