Topping DX3 Pro+ Review (DAC & Headphone Amp)

Yeah we all read that. A bit more details ;)

Who uses which filter in their DX3 Pro+ and why?

Keep the default filter(3). They are useless...

My device is still getting handwarm, just when turned on, not even playing.

newest fw & drivers @ Win11

Strange, since the power supply is not even built in the device.

What's the difference? Something was fixed and good.

I can hear the difference on my Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 32 Ohm, but I can't figure out which filter I like better. Definitely slow filters smooth out the high frequencies.

Mine too. I think this is normal.

They could explain what they fixed ... like they have done in other fw updates...

Still useless gimmick. If you want to change the soundprofil, than it's much better to use a software equalizer...

Maybe for games, but for music use a EQ....

Does anyone have the same problem that one segment of the display stops working (if that should be the number -20) after running the amplifier for some time (say ~1 hour)? This happened once a long time ago (same segment), and now due to default this is happening. I thought it had something to do with heating, but I’m not sure, it goes out even without use, when idle. Sad, unpleasant:(

I don't have one but it sure has the looks of a late 1970's-early i980's CB radio.
But usually all the segments of the CB radio still work.

many users are experiencing this. For those people, the problem is permanent (so it won't be fixed even after a power cycle).
It's a known quality issue Topping refused to recognize and improve. If you are within the return window, just return it.

Exactly the reason i have all that turn off, except sources.

I also always had the display auto-off mode, not that I burned it out with maximum brightness)

I have the D30 Pro and DX3 Pro, both use the same LCD screen (still my favorite btw)
I use the D30 Pro since launch pretty much daily and the DX3 Pro regularly (couple times a week)
Both displays still function perfectly without any issues whatsoever.

Again people with issues will post on online forums, people without issues, like me, won't.
So "many" doesn't really mean anything.

It's a segmented LED display. Seems unlikely that one of the LEDs would die that fast.

Probably an output on a driver IC that has crapped out, or maybe just a bad solder joint. I'm itching to get my hands on one of thoes faulty units. Would love to find out what's actually going bad :D

Yep one segment on my display hasn't worked for over a year. I don't like it, but it hasn't affected functionality otherwise.

My neighbor has a degraded LCD TV where I can spot every backlight LED leaking through the panel from 5 meters away.

My DX3 Pro+ arrived today. Its fantastic, I can now play my CD collection through my Tanchjim One IEMs through the DX3 Pro+ and also use the USB input for streaming.
Fantastic value given its performance and connectivity options.
Also drives my new Tanchjim one IEMs really well, on low gain volume set to around -55 is a nice listening level for me with no distortion.

So, another segment of the display also went out.

I would also be interested in opening it, at least visually inspecting the boards, but it is unlikely that this is due to poor soldering, and not because of the LEDs, most likely some kind of microcircuit.

Perhaps a "dumb newbie-question": Would the dac of the Topping Dx3 pro+ be an improvement over the built in DAC in the Wiim Ultra?

They both seem to use the same dac chip if I'm correct, but will the Wiim Ultra be "better" because its newer..?
