Hello,

regarding the Hifiman Edition XS, the Hifiman Support wrote me:

Please kindly note that it is suggested to avoid using high-power headphone amplifiers with an output power of more than 2 watts, which may result in overdrive or distortion.

Now I am wondering if the Topping DX3 Pro+ can exceed 2 watts on the 18 Ohm Hifiman Edition XS?

The spec says it outputs:
- 0,25W @ 300 Ohm
- 1,8W @ 32 Ohm

Is the output higher than 2W @ 18 Ohm?

I read that some users got distortions with very loud bass, not sure if that might be related to this <2W recommendation from the Hifiman Support.

Sorry if the question may be stupid, total noob here.

Thanks!

Here is the relevant graph:
Topping AIO_ Maximum Output Power before clipping (knee) vs Load (2) (1).png
The DX3Pro+ will output 1.95W into 18Ω before clipping (knee).

If you have a 10W amp and a 1W amp and you play both at 0.5W by turning down the volume, then sound will be identical out of both Amps.
So having more power than required is not an issues as long as you turn down the volume some.
